My guess is best bet is to have the Canadian dollar strengthen while trump tanks his dollar value.

That and just try to promote spending money on sports. Americans have way more options and way less interest in hockey per capita...so use that to your advantage...

So while Anaheim sells tickets for $40 American, we sell tickets for $60 Canadian, problem solved.

Been hearing this same thing for decades. Nothing they've ever done has really worked. There's plenty of French language media coverage. Idk..maybe being downtown will help but I really don't like the accusation that the team hasn't done "enough" to attract Gatineau fans.

I'm not accusing them of anything. I'm genuinely curious if they have done anything different than the last regime.

Canadian based teams generate the Bulk of their revenue in CAD, and the Bulk of their expenses are in USD.

This is NOT a formula for success for probably the smallest Canadian market team.

oh, and the fallout from the Tariff Trade War that is shaping up, is not going to improve the situation… it may in fact make things worse.

I wouldn't expect it to either. Hard to convert fans even young ones if their family has strong ties to a specific team already.

I understand what the org is trying to do in Quebec city. Don't agree with some of the messaging throughout the process though.

Not gonna make a difference in just one years

My dad a die hard habs fan and this years start watching Sens game. Txt me when they win lol Also couple friends too

It's been 30+ years.

Gatineau is maybe 20 - 25% of the regional population

Do you think that even 5% of the STH base are STH? I know one couple that are STH.

It s been 30 years, but first time the owner speak french. Andlauer really help

What I heard close to me , don t think that gonna change to go at the ctc but help to grow ( cote d écoute ) don t know the word in english

I'm sorry but I don't buy that. I was at the game last night along with 18500 other people. Announcements are all in bilingual format but I'll bet there weren't 10 unilingual francophones in the building.

How does having an owner that speaks French change things? It's not like the team has been marketing in English to the Gatineau people.

There's French language newspaper. I go to rds, there's tons of coverage Sénateurs d'Ottawa - nouvelles & résultats,vidéos, photos. There's TV. Radio.

Most Gatineau residents were/are die hard Habs fans. They are Quebecois and the Habs represent Quebecois to a lot of French people. There's not much Ottawa can do to dissuade those people from being Habs fans.

Having the arena downtown should help a LOT though for young ppl in Gatineau. If they start going to more games at a younger age it's a good thing.

I don't buy the idea that the Sens can make significant fans in QC.

Same for Eastern Ontario, most ppl are Leafs fans and actively dislike Ottawa the city.

That's not what I said. I hear French spoken as well. They announce in bilingual format. There's all kinds of french content in the media. A lack of French is not the reason that Francophones in quebec aren't Sens fans.

It's not a french thing. It's a quebecer thing

Yeah I agree, this is not just because the french

But a owner that gonna make good decision and the arena downtown gonna help

Monday all french media was happy with everything about the Québec annoncement. Also the split jersey. And tuesday they have not understand all the complain in Ottawa. They said this fanbase so insecure

The % of STH is probably not high you are right, but if they end up playing on Lebreton flats or anywhere closer to downtown that will change. I am from Gatineau and been a Sens fan since the first game when we beat the Habs (which all of my family cheered for). I was so happy to be there live and see Patrick Roy lose I've been a fan ever since through the good and bad times and my brother as well. I have a lot of neighboors and friends that are watching the Sens more and more and having an owned that "cares" and speak the langage is important. Winning also helps a lot and if we can make it to the postseason and MTL doesn’t, I know many Habs fan on the Gatineau side will cheer for us. Although I am french, I don't follow the french media, they are all Habs fan cheerleaders

Tbh I don't want no Hab fans for cheering for us. No space on the bandwagon for them. They can piss right off

I was sitting beside a family of 6 French speaking folks yesterday at the game. None of them copped any Sens gear but there are plenty of them at the arena.

Just even walking the concourse I heard tons of French speaking folks with Sens gear.

Now I would have no idea where they are from but my guess would be either Orleans or Gatineau.

Not saying I want them to do so, but some of the will want it or not. They may even turn into Sens fan over time (younger generation) which is probably what Andlauer is looking to accomplish. More fans = more $
