And yet doesn’t the NFL want to play game in Canadian markets?

Think. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

This is your first mistake. Most people don’t take to social media to complain about things.

If you’re selling your ass building vids, that’s your audience though….
First bolded part: By all accounts that was a failure on the NFL’s part, and the bills hated it too and no one has since ventured off to do such a thing again. It was a mistake. And clearly not the same as playing the many games in Europe that they do now.

Second bolded part: the fact that the Senators made admissions of their mistakes is a direct result of social media reaction and likely offline phone calls from STHs too applying similar pressure. It is false to say that judging reactions from social media is a complete mistake when it serves as a really good indicator of the fanbase. Times are a changing, phone calls are slower and yes ppl begin to take to social media to complain (I do it all the time with Air Canada and such, their social media response time is much quicker)

The reason Andlauer and the team are still losing this story is because they are trying to explain to the fans the reason they are mad - and in conclusion and with 100% t trasnpency the explanation from Andlauer is because Ottawa fans are mental.

In reality, this is a f*** up by his staff and he said rhat and it should end there. Explaining to Sens fans they are scared or damaged is gaslighting tje fanbase for your own f***.

There’s a saying - if you’re explaining you are losing. It’s why they are losing because tje conclusion from the team is it’s kinda our mistake, kinda Melnyk’s and kinda tje fans when it’s 199% their mistake, they mix in words like transparency and accountability to make to seem official but it’s their stupid mistake and explaining to fans they are damaged is completely dumb

and our own owner came down from Toronto to tell the NHL the Ottawa fans are damaged and keep that story line alive - friendly fire from our own owner. Just stupid in every level if that’s their conclusion, we aren’t resilient, we aren’t demanding - we are damaged. Okay, thanks Mike and company
Funny satire, you made most of that up.
Andlauer said Sens fans are mental, you have a link?

Why do you always make up so many stories that aren’t even true lol. Try sticking to facts for a change.

The Montreal game is going to be fascinating visually to see how many people are there in Canadiens jerseys.

The idea that it's a market for them to capture does not make any sense when there is still so much work to do in Orleans and Gatineau, both areas where fans can be converted both to TV viewers and season-ticket members.

It seems to predicate on this false idea that everybody in Quebec are Nordiques fans, waiting with arms crossed for the team to come back - refusing to cheer for the Canadiens. That they all hate the Canadiens so much that they would be willing to watch the Senators if we just played pre-season games there, despite not already converting to cheering for the Senators in high numbers over the last 30 years since the Nordiques left. I assume that the reality is that anybody below the age of 35 or even 40 does not remember the Nordiques at all, and has no allegiance to them. If they got into hockey, they likely got into the Canadiens as their closest team culturally.

It's part of why it's very difficult to take it at face value that they were just trying to grow the fanbase, because it seems like any reasonable marketing research would point to there being very little upside. Let alone upside in comparison to the risk of upsetting their core fanbase, which as a team that relies heavily on selling season seats to regular fans, they badly need to appeal to. They don't have business-to-business sales to lean on as much as other teams do.

If you've ever watched the show Righteous Gemstones, Michael Andlauer basically just gave us the "Car Pranks" explanation. You'd have to be so naive and so badly want nothing to go on to believe it, because it doesn't make any sense compared to the much more logical explanation of "an NHL owner was trying to pressure the city into giving him an arena, so he showed that he had a business relationship with a group looking for relocation". It was meant to be Jeff Katz being spotted in Seattle on steroids, but they wanted plausible deniability because of how obviously upsetting it would be to the fans.
What work is there to do in Orleans? I've lived in Orleans for near the entirety of ottawa having a team. Are you implying that we have less sens fans here than say nepean?

Should we be only thinking of all the poor unionized civil servants that can't afford to pay for the tickets in the 100s?

Do they really understand how the world works better than some of those that worked hard and made millions?

Probably not.
Not sure what point you are trying to make, but I wonder if you are assuming that people that are not wealthy don’t work hard and that people are poor because they don’t work hard?

Another archaic point is that wealthy/wealthiest people are billionaires (versus millionaires) and the large wealthy corporations can have trillions of dollars these days.

Probably fewer season ticket holders, but any gap in fans is likely minimal.

There is a bigger francophone community in Orleans though, so maybe the assumption is francophones are more likely to be hand fans, but the counter to that is anglophones are more likely to be leafs fans.

The point seems to be that you’re greedy and can’t see the forest for the trees. This team isn’t yours. There are Sens fans all across the country, with a ton of them out here on the west coast.

Any opportunity to expand the market in our broadcasting rights area is an absolute no brainer and was obviously high on the list of priorities after purchase.

Stop thinking that you one the team because you happen to live in Ottawa, that’s the perfect way to keep it small and underfunded.
Sure. Whatever. Don’t f*** with our logo.
Also People in deep Quebec don’t care about the Ottawa senators

It keeps you interested bro, you just said you read all my stuff and pay close attention, so thanks and your welcome. If everyone had your opinion on things you’d be bored, and you love to react to my posts, it gives you a counter point and that’s literally what media is.Thanks again for reading and more to come

So you have no proof Andlauer called the Senators fans mental.

Just we like we all thought, that you made it up again. Nice way to dodge and weave the question though lol.

we are both winning here bro, you have something to do.

If it makes you feel victorious he said ‘scare tissue’ - which if you have ever been on the dating is the nice word for ‘mental’

lol, so he never said fans were mental, just like we all thought, that you made it up.

You’re on a site with people proposing fake trades, fanatasizing about future contracts, trying to predict draft picks a year out from the draft - this isn’t real bro but your victory is. You got me. But there will be a next time, I wont rest until we hug at the parade in June and I whisper in your ear “mental…isn’t it!”

The Ottawa Senators have been trying to convert francophone fans to becoming Sens fans for over 30 yrs & it still has not happened. The biggest influx of francophone fans to the CTC was when Pageau was here & he had his own song. But even then they wore their Montreal jerseys to see Pageau & we lost them when we traded Pageau.

One thing I never hear from the Sens is them trying to convert all the Leaf fans that live in this city into Sens fans, why do you suppose that is? I know a few people who were Hab fans that converted to Sens fans when we got the team back in the day, but since then not much. I know of a couple of guys who like both teams & follow both, but are Hab fans first. I don't know any Leaf fans who converted to the Sens though. Most older people who were fans of a certain team continue to be fans of that same team. It's trying to convert the kids of parents who cheer for other teams that Ott has to do a better job turning them into Sens fans, but that is next to impossible across the river.

The Facts can be boring. Irrational enthusiastic lies are so much more interesting and enraging of small minds. I have been in that "small mind" group a few times but not too many. :)

I think one way is for the team to engage more with the local hockey community; send more of their players out to the local arenas to talk to the kids and skate with them during practices.

It's almost like your anti francophone even saying this out loud. I worked in Gatineau for probably 10 years. And with many Gatinese on the ottawa side. They're not giving up being Habs fans. And 75% of kids simply cheer for who dad likes because dad has the remote control. If there was going to be a conversation, it would have happened by now.

Nichols is a good writer. He's good on Coming in Hot too. How the Athletic got MacKenzie instead of Nichols is crazy.

Yup. And your lawn looks like junk too. Lol

I have tons of francophone friends who have been around since Ottawa got the team & almost all of them have not changed allegiance & the same thing applies to Leaf fans or Bruin fans & the list goes on. Have you not noticed that a lot of people stick with one team for life, like they stick with the same bank or insurance company.

I was converted way back in the 90's. I grew up a Penguins fan because of their first 2 cups and Lemieux and Jagr and later all their Czech Republic players like Straka, Lang, Nedved & Kovalev (I cheered for them in the Olympics in 98 spurred from my love for Hasek). I got hassled so hard in the 90's to cheer for a Canadian team but wanted nothing to do with the ones that everyone else already cheered for. Moved in to town from the sticks and got cable TV for the first time. The Sens were in the playoffs for the 1st time and I was won over. I still also cheered for the Pens until they went in to a rebuild and Mario retired again, but that was the end. Now I hate those f***ers lol.
