GDT: Quatre tasses de café à Montréal

I am fine either way.

Angry C-Bus taking Vengeance in Johnny’s name is great afaic.

Habs being the underdogs taking on WSH has some strong symbolism these days as well.

I will make this absolutely clear. These days I would rather cheer for any Canadien team including the FU^KING Maple Leafs over Capitals.

I will accept any flack in stride.

Hell I would cheer for any Canadien team excluding the Leafs over Dallas.

RALEIGH, N.C. - The American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that Carolina Hurricanes forward Bradly Nadeau has been named to its 2024-25 All-Rookie Team.

Nadeau, 19, leads the Chicago Wolves in goals (30), power play goals (8) and points (56 - tied) and ranks tied for third in assists (26). The St-Francois de Madawaska, N.B., native is first among AHL rookies and tied for sixth among all AHL skaters in goals. Nadeau is just the sixth player under 20 years old to score 30 goals in the AHL since 1940, and the third in the last 50 years.

i'm always on board for nic wallin love, but he was the secret weapon in overtime. if this one goes to overtime, even if the canes win, it's as good as a loss. at least for setting up cbj for a (regulation) win and you're in scenario.

realistically, the habs should roll. non-realistically, i want a brind'amour hat trick and a kk game winner with 2.0 seconds left.

Okay. Go grab Eric Staal then.

This is the harshest thing I will ever say about Rod Brind’Amour, a man I love tremendously.

Putting Skylar Brind’Amour in the Staal position in between Carrier and Stankoven for his first NHL game is the most “retired old has-been living vicariously through his son” thing that could possibly happen.
What has Skylar done to get called up before Suzuki?

Played a much stronger defensive game against top players.

Skyler is a checking center. Suzuki is a skill center. We're replacing Staal with a checking center. We have routinely done this with callups for years, under multiple coaches and GMs. The offensive prospects are not the ones called up when the checking forwards are out. Hell, remember how many games Patrick Brown got just a few years ago?

I said it I think when Jaaska was called up before Suzuki earlier this season. As productive as Suzuki is, I don't really think he plays the best brand of Canes hockey. Brind'Amour kinda does and gives them a look at another depth forward that plays that style should they get quite decimated and desparate in the playoffs at any point (and I remember a couple of our playoff runs with several forwards out all at once). I do think we've seen at times, most recently with Rantanen not fitting in and the guys we got at the deadline fitting in better, that playing like a Cane does matter.

Hard for me to take a side on the Columbus vs Montreal thing. Columbus is inspiring with the Johnny Hockey saga, actually making the playoffs would be cool. Just getting close has been huge and wonderful to see. But despite the fan and front office rivalry, I find the current Montreal team quite likable, and Marty St. Louis remains my favorite individual player from my entire time watching hockey. I'd be honestly happy seeing either team sneak into the playoffs and embarrass the Caps in as humiliating a manner as possible.

So I'll do what I always do- just root for the Canes to win and let the rest sort itself out.

Who is replacing Aho, our skill center?

Bc we have Kokonut, Jank, and Skylar - that's a lot of checking centers, no?

I think we have some on this board have unreal thoughts if what Suzuki really is. I mean he has a ton of apples compared to SBA but SBA has 5 more goals in one more game, and his plus minus is much better.

I just don't see the angst Suzuki is not a lot better if he is better at all.

I don't blame you but I don't agree. The joy get when the last Canadian team is eliminated every year makes me smile. The whole "this many decades since " thing. I just love it
