Canada vs Czechs is 50-50
Sweden vs Latvia is 55-45 if Osmonis is back and 70-30 if he isn't
US vs Switzerland is 60-40
Slovakia vs Finland is 45-55

My predictions

Czechs, Swedes, US and Slovaks

I used my gut and regret nothing!
Canada vs Czechia 75-25
Sweden vs Latvia 95-5 Osmanis ain't playing and our offense is just not there anymore
US vs Switzerland 80-20

How much money would you put on Canada suddenly being able able to score goals from what you have seen of this team so far? George will have to be at the top of his game because no way can we manage more then 3 goals at best with this lineup.

Czechs, Sweden, U.S, Finland move onto the semis.

USA and Sweden walk away with eazy wins.

Finland-Slovakia. Like they say during the elections, too close to call. Could go either way, very even match up, i think Finland has a edge in goal but dead even in other position. I wouldn't be surprised if game goes OT, expect a thriller.

Canada-Czechia. Normally i'd say Canada but not now, they been very undisciplined and pressure might be getting them. Coach been looking clueless ever since tournament started, so i would question can he steer the ship in right direction. And Czechia been rocking and rolling the whole tourmanent, their confidence is high and if Canada is shaking in the water even for little bit, the Czechs gonna smell the blood. So another OT thriller or blowout win for Czechia.

You can't beat this tournament. Never stop the madness and here we go again.

Considering they are shooting 5% while these same players with their clubs shoot 15%? For any analytics fans out there, that is an unsustainably low shooting %. The reality is that while we did leave some good talent back home, we still brought a bunch of talented guys that are capable scorers. It's been surprising to see them struggle this much. Yeah, maybe they'll struggle one more game and then be out, but I also wouldn't be surprised for the law of averages to rear it's head and see us suddenly fill the net.

No offense, but I disagree with virtually all of your percentages.

I don’t think Latvia and Switzerland have as good of a chance as you are giving them. Those teams can maybe beat a top 4 nation 1 of 10 (if even that). It’s not 30-40%. I might give them 10% to win those games.

Kind of similar for Slovakia. They are better and can beat a top team more often. Finland also maybe isn’t a top team right now, but I also think 45% for Slovakia is a touch too much. I’d say 65-35 Finland.

Would not say Canada-Czechia is a coin flip. I think the fact that we’re talking about it in these terms shows how much Canada has struggled recently and how good Czechia has been recently (and they’ve beaten Canada recently, right?), but it’s still Canada at home. USA was an underdog against Canada yesterday. Would give Canada a 60% chance.

I’m going Sweden and USA easily. Finland is beatable, but don’t know if Slovaks have it this year, so I’ll say Finland somewhat confidently. And then the last one I really don’t know. I’m going to go with Canada, but not confident at all about saying it. I liked the Czechs chances to medal this year, but having to beat Canada at home to get to the medal rounds? That’s really tough and the bracket might’ve done them in.

This is why it sucks being in the weaker division. This is a terrible crossover for the Czechs. Can they win it? Of course, they have a good team and have been playing well. But I think Canada has a real chip on its shoulder now and is going to play with desperation. They are also due to have some shots go in.

It's all going to come together next game :thumbu:

You've convinced me, I'm changing my prediction......Canada goes through.

Yeah, well..... maybe.

What I will say is that all that conversation we had about leaving talented players off the roster seems moot. Do we honestly believe that if we brought Sennecke and Cristall and whoever else that they wouldn't be struggling like the rest of these guys? Cameron could coach the offense right out of those guys. :sarcasm:

You are usually waaaaay too pessimistic about the Czechs. The very few games where you are actually optimistic the Czechs tend to lose, so purely on the basis I fear for our chances now. So I am thinking Canada, USA, Finland and Sweden

I feel like this tournament is Sweden's, easily the best performer so far

Well we either win it all or shit the bed completely. We’ve had a tendency to underestimate our opponents and just play uninspired. If we bring our A-game it will be over before the start of the third period.

And no matter how bad Canada has played they are the absolute best at finding ways to overcome their previous failures.

Can-Cze 4-1
US-Sui 6-1
Fin-Slo 2-0
