WC: Quarterfinal Pre-Game Talk

As a Canadian who wants Canada to get out of the QF for the first time in 5 years, i am nervous about playing the Finns next. I much would rather preferred Belarus. Anyways- it will be a great matchup and an exciting hockey game. Hopefully Canada can advance to the Semis, but it will be tough because Rinne at his best can win this game for Finland.

Dont worry, have u seen Finland play this year ? Rinne has saved us in many games, we had HUGE problems even with the Borat team. I fear this will be like 6-0 to Canada.
Hopefully you are right. However- seeing how Canada has layed an egg in the QF for the past 4 years, i am still fearful of this matchup. Was seriously hoping that Canada got Belarus. Seeing Finland play over the years- they are always a tough out and never can be counted out. As a Canadian- i hope you are right, but Rinne is a guy that can steal this game for Finland. Hopefully Canada can edge out a win and reach the Semis.
My sentiments exactly. This has another QF exit written all over it.
Seems like Canada lately always cleans house in the opening round and then chokes by a goal in the first playoff. Russia 2011, Slovakia 2012, Sweden 2013...

FIN-CAN won't be a blowout. Predicting 6-0 against a guy like Rinne is unfounded.
However, Canada will win it. Two-goal margin seems about right.

I'm predicting a close game but Canada will win 3-2 or 4-2.
The Finnish defense will have a hard time with Canada.
I'm looking fwd to the speed rematch (Nathan vs Erik)!

Pretty much what i was thinking. While our coach gets a lot of hate around here he still knows how to get the most out of our team. This year its tough since the team itself sucks more compared to some of the other top nations but still, im expecting our best game in this tournament but in the end lack of finishing will cost us. Even if Rinne plays lights out our D will not be able to shut down Canada's offense.
Could even be as tight as an OT game, so i guess everything is possible, but Canada just has history of beating Finland when its all said and done.
But yeah, what i mean is we dominated Russia for one period and were the better team against USA. Same trend will continue but if we cant score goals then its hard to win.
Just tell the women at the club that you will not be providing lap dances between 16:00 CET or 20:00 CET and you will give them a discount if they come back after the game. That's fair.

Unfortunately there's always pressure for Finland. Our media loves to remind us of that every single year, no matter what the situation. And WC's are still the #1 sport event in this country for some reason. They're expected to win every single game and even if they lose against Canada that'll be a big disappointment for everybody (even though it's more likely to happen than winning).
That's the reason we have a history of players overperforming in this tournament but also a lot of really tight losses when it matters the most. Its a double-edged sword.

Really interesting pairs. Canada vs Finland is always entertaining and the Finns will surely show up like no tomorrow after being on the brink of elimination and playing against the all-mighty Canada. Sweden vs Belarus, there's some history there
And USA vs Czech Republic, Czechs can try to pay them back after the Olympic loss. Also who knows what the surprise team of this tournament can do against Russia.
