I don't see "the" improvement that the Finns need against an opponent like Canada. Still faulty on defense, weak goalie and unlucky on offense. So Canada has an easy game.

I want to add something to that, I feel like if Larmi doesn't step it up he will not get many more chances if any in the WC's and bigger tournaments.
Underperforming game after another and that just doesn't cut it. Clearly the worst goalie we've had in these bigger tournaments these last years. He just doesn't look calm and collected in the net and he let's in stinkers in most games.

Come on now Larmi, prove us wrong.

Monty again, he's had to make some nice saves.

Me being a Habs fan watched him a lot this year and he was one of the only bright spots on the team. Armia plays like a different player representing his country because he sucks bad with the Habs

Yeah honestly im pretty happy with Finland's play in the first. PP and finishing need to be better, but Canada was on the backfoot the entire period. Just gotta keep up the pressure.

Weird first period. Finland almost dominating the play with the puck, but can't finish. Canada goalie playing very well, while Larmi let in a stinker. At times Canada felt almost like a smaller hockey nation playing a simple counter attack style.

That's the style this Canadian team needs to play.

I know Rants is a marked man (it showed on many occasions) but he still has zero goals in this tournament. Our second line is good as usual, but the first one needs to show up or we are out. We had the possession and played quite well, but Armi let in a stinker. Guy wasnt ready for the shot at all, but blame goes aswell to Ohtamaa..

Finns, let's show them on the second period. Finish them!

The Finns seem to have a PP problem. I don't have PP statistic of the tournament so far on hand but if I'm not wrong the Finns haven't been very successful in PP so far. I can't watch the game on TV as it's not broadcasted here in Switzerland. But the Finns could play again 4 minutes PP in the first period without any result. As I can't watch the game I don't know if the PK of Canada was so good or the PP of Finland just bad.

The PP looked alright. But tweak it and play Rantanen more.

He does what Härski does, just faster and smarter. They can't figure out who does what.

And that worries me a lot because he makes it look very easy as well. The D's are helping him as JJ Cale wrote, he sees every puck and looks collected in the net.

Right now, TSN 1 has a FIFA U20 world cup match between Gambia and France. Gambia is winning 1-nil. Over on TSN 2, there is some scintillating conversation about an NFL season that starts in four months. I just can't wait.
