Not an exact equivalent, and I don't think they are as popular as Svoboda
Anyway, gratz Slovakia!
If we had Bokros and you had Prerost, I think we'd win.
But congrats to you guys, good luck in the semi-final.
Thanks a lot. Do you think that outcome of this tournament will have an influence on Prerost keeping the job?
Does Reway have the most points at the World juniors for Slovakia?
Do you remember 1968? Its a good name,i like it

I just literally loled at Nemecek being picked as one of our three best players of the tournament.
Who does it pick? Is it coaching staff?
1. Richard Pánik - 19 GP - 22 P
2. Martin Réway - 16 GP - 18 P
3. Ziggy Pálffy - 13 GP - 17 P
Yes.
Nemecek made the roster, played in top pairing, first PP unit, "empty net unit", he was TOP 3 player of the team. It's unbelievable.![]()
I read somewhere that Prerost and Nemecek's fahter work in one company togehter. It was unsound source though so I don't want to spread some false infos. Don't you guys know anything about this?
Also I guess by now they have the best PK in the tourney.
I don't know about this, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was true.![]()
I'm sure if a week ago someone created poll asking what is more likely, Slovakia playing for a medal or Slovakia being relegated, the latter would have won, perhaps comfortably.
It seems people have been writing Slovak hockey's obituary for close to a decade now, and the country certainly doesn't pump out talent like it once did, but every couple of years they manage to do something to remind everyone they are still very much relevant in international hockey... '09 WJC, '10 Olympics, '12 WC, and now '15 WJC.
The Czechs, along with the US, have to be the disappointment of the tournament. I guess the good news is they should return with a strong team for at least the next couple of years, although you got to figure Pastrnak and maybe even Vrana are playing in the NHL next year. In the big picture The Czech Rep. still seem to be able to produce forwards and even goalies but they really need to start producing the odd defenceman and I don't think too many (any?) guys on this year's team are going to be able to fill the void. Not too long ago it seemed like the Czech Rep. produced PMD about as often as I take a dump... What happened?
One thing all those four teams had in common was great goalie performance and the players playing a good deffensive system, with few offensive top players. Which is a large contrast to the extreme offensive power we had in early to mid 2000s. Basically, we're the new Switzerland.![]()
