The Danes tourney is over? I thought that they still had to play for 5, 6, 7, 8 th spot. Did they do that in the past and I never noticed a change? So I'm assuming that the USA is fifth with all of their wins. ...

I think I've seen enough of Virtanen to say that he looks out of place among other stars. Not bad, but I feel like he needs to learn how to play the cycle game. Waiting for off the rush opportunities will only get you so far. When possession in the offensive is maintained he floats into the slot and stays there until he receives a pass or the puck is turned over. Though the skates hard and the will to succeed is there though so I'm hopeful he'll return next year with a stronger grasp of the forecheck game.

Virtanen seems off in that he hasn't really developed a game away from the puck.

Care to expand on that? I thought he played good. Was physical and involved in many plays. Did you just pick a random name on the roster out of a hat and go with it? Yeesh. :shakehead

Yeah, you got me. Care to name the players I "randomly" picked out last game?

Taking a needless penalty and letting a vastly inferior team get behind you is not playing well. Going out of position to make a hit is not playing well either. The guy did nothing.

Not much to take from this game, but good to see Canada play pretty hard throughout. Good job by the Danes as well, played hard and kept things clean. Too bad about Fabbri, but Point looked comfortable at least.

Haven't read all the posts.

Is it just me or did the Ref put up a bit of a pick on Mcdavid's goal? The defender had to take a bit of a different direction. Not saying he would of caught up, but he might have gotten a better angle and stick.

I think Virtanen has only played well when he was on the 4th line with Crouse and Gauthier.

He was certainly more noticeable with them, though that could be because of his speed. The 3rd member of McDavid/Lazar has been a passenger for the most part no matter who it is, and I'd say tonight on the 3rd line was one of Virtanen's poorer efforts of the tournament, though he certainly wasn't bad. Right now the 1st and 4th lines seem to be set in stone and McDavid/Lazar and Petan/Paul probably aren't being broken up, so it's just moving Point and Virtanen around.

I thought he did, which is a shame :(

refs have been in the way all tourny

Canada didn't seem to play a good organized game in the last 10 minutes or so. Denmark and Slovakia are Tough practice teams when your final destination is likely Sweden. We need to keep our energy up no matter how many goals we've already scored.

Congrats to Denmark.

Yes, they used to have a 5th place playoff game. I was at that game in Ottawa in 2009 and still remember the fancy between-the-legs goal JVR had in overtime.

I guess they changed it. The relegation round is totally different as well.

ever since they instituted the 8 teams in the playoffs, 4 QF they've gotten rid of the 5th place(or 7th place) games, the teams losing in the QF would have to play 2 games to decide their placement after being eliminated because there's 4 of them so that's just stupid, nobody cared for the 5th place game back when they played it either.

Did this happen when they got rid of the bye to the semis? They still have to have a placement though, so I'm going to assume that it's the same as the rest of the tourney = points and goal differential if needed

You? Bashing a Canucks prospect? Colour me surprised.
