OK, the first goal was a clear refs' mistake but Sweden's looking so strong overall. I wouldn't say Latvia has been playing bad. They have a smart gameplan and are sticking to it for most of the time. But the individual quality of Sweden's players, especially defensemen playing the puck, is astonishing.

Pretty predictable. Sweden is a terrible matchup stylistically for Latvia with their patient offensive possession game.

Canada played right into their hands by shooting from everywhere - that just feeds Latvia's offense, and Sweden knows that.
Their last play-off game ended 2-1 two years ago.

Viaplay wants some money.
Viaplay is the cancer of sport-streaming services, constantly overpaying for big leagues and tournaments, then they raise the price to a number the viewers aren’t willing to pay, because they overpayed. Then the idiots lash out at people using illegal streaming sites to watch games, claiming they are favoring organized crime when they were the ones to not understand supply and demand in the first place. Overpay for something and you lose money. AND THEN they’re forced to make a deal to air the Saudi pro league saying they ”acquired the rights” to air it, when everyone and their mother knows they got a fat pile of oil money to do so.

7 out of 8 Latvian goals in this tournament were scored by the top line. Most of the penalties were drawn by the 1st line. The Latvian top line is nowhere near good enough without Osmanis and it is painfully obvious.

This is not how we played against Canada.

Yep, canceled my subscription about a year ago. I was part of the group that had it for 199 per month with the promise that they were not gonna change the price unless we canceled/changed the subscription. But guess what they did it anyway. That was strike 1. Then came a bunch more price increases and eventually they sold a bunch of Premier League games to Prime video, at that point I had enough. Hope they go under soon.

I canceled it when they made the Saudi deal. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

3 years ago, with a stronger Latvia team and a historically poor offensive Sweden team. Latvia had Vilmanis, Locmelis, Bergmanis, Fenenko etc. That was such a great team - they beat Czechia 5-2 that year too and took Slovakia to OT. Sweden only beat Swiss 3-2 and Germans 4-2 that year as well, and only scored 17 goals in 6 games.

But the shots vs Sweden were 27-13, Latvia only managed 1 shot in the 3rd period.
