Canadian whining is on a totally different level.
Why you ask?
Because the game means more to you, nor do other countries have a TSN hyping their teams like they’re gods gift to mankind.
It’s human nature to not accept defeat gracefully when the sport is part of your self-identity; especially when the population is whipped into a nationalistic frenzy centered around an ‘Our Game’ mentality. It’s basic psychology.
So of course when Canada loses it CANT be because other teams are better. That does not compute. Therefore It MUST be because of something Canada didn’t do.
Exemplified perfectly in this thread.
Jesus lol.
People have been complaining about this roster since day one, a roster that ended up 2-3 in the tournament. Everything was validated including a well deserved loss to Czechia.
So
of course people are going to talk about perceived criticism in the thread where they were proven right all along, that this team had major flaws and ran a real risk of underperforming. Why would they not talk about it? Everyone agrees Canada deserved what it got, people talking about it is, after all,
human nature.
Whaffing nonsense about "nationalistic frenzy" or "self-identity" is honestly ridiculous here. "Self-identity" isn't what is questioned when everyone with half a brain questioned the offensive potential of that team after cutting Cristall - Misa - Sennecke. "Nationalistic frenzy" isn't why people are calling Cameron a terrible head coach, the bad excuses, comical challenge, and horrible strategies are. If anything, the fact that people are talking so openly about these things is a rebuttal to the "nationalistic frenzy" Hockey Canada and its lackeys want to see from Canadians, and they should not get away with it. Because really, if we just say like they did, hey, we lost that game, happens, it just gives them more tools to not be questioned and run back their silly chauvinism and jokes of calls that led them straight to this result.
So really get off your high horse, you got the result you so apparently wanted, good job, but these posts are getting sillier and sillier and there's really no benefit of holding on to very ill-conceived vitriol.
