Cool. Still, they proved they're good enough. They dominated Czechia once they started playing. The problem was that they started playing too late. Czechia came prepared, Canada did not.
They weren’t good enough. A team Canada with those above players would have put up 10 on this Czech team. They dominated in the third once Czechia started laying back and they still couldn’t finish 90% of their chances. That’s a lack of skill.

Prices for Canada games were outrageous. Plus the team really had zero charisma. No one to get excited about going to watch. McKenna could be that guy next year, but he’s not there now. Cowen, Yager, Bonk..? C’mon now.

They should try putting together a team that can score and is fun to watch next year. And please get rid of Voldemort behind the bench.

Not having Yakemchuk in Ottawa was a miss as well.

I honestly have not watched a second of this tournament, but was surprised that they bright back Dave Cameron. They had to recycle a guy back from over a decade ago... and an uninspired recycle at that?

As sad as I am to see Canada lose, this is such a good tourney every year as it’s young guys going all out. Latvia beats Canada ina wild game…..Canada comes back and ties it tonight….2 really good semi games coming up…..gold medal game I’ll be great too….. It’s good hockey all around and again it’s just kids playing. I don’t blame the Canadian players for losing. They left it all out there as much as some fans and media think they need to win every game 10-0 which is nuts.

Yeah. 10 goals at least. Probably more like 20.

The Mckenna hit could have been called. The Beaudoin and Gibson calls, I don't agree with. But this movie plays every year. There are lots of calls that are missed and calls made that would not be in major junior.

Again, if we score more goals none of this matters. Canada could ice two teams and either of them could expect to do better then the one we chose. Not on the players, they're kids and they gave it their all. Give me the heads of Hockey Canada.
This movie does play every year, the refs are way too involved with the outcome of the game whether it helps Canada or not they have to let them play a bit more.

dude, you don’t need scouts to pick an international team. NHL teams have already scoiuted and f***ing drafted all these kids. Jsut pick the best f***ing players and you’ll win every single year.

They keep doing this and keep losing and keep learning nothing
Talent adapts. Pick the talent.

If Hockey Canada can't figure out how to scout a bunch of (98%) CHL players then they are plain stupid. I barely watch junior hockey and I could tell you Pinelli shouldn't be there and Yakemchuck should. I can tell you Dave Cameron is not a high stakes coach. Obviously the line of thinking at HC is highly flawed.
By their own words this year, they wanted to build a team with a Canadian identity, and that doesn't mean just picking the highest scorers or highest drafted players they said. Essentially it means Team Canada thinks they are smarter than the consensus of NHL scouts and the most reliable predictor of success for prospects which is plain ol counting stats like goals and assists. It points directly at an attempt to be the smartest in the room.

And on Pinelli I would agree, I didn't know much about this kid coming into this tourney but at times it looked like he couldn't even keep his balance skating. There had to be better choices out there, like you mentioned Yakemchuck.

You think Hockey Canada would have learned that from getting beat by the Czechs exactly one year ago in the QF. Yet these Hockey Canada Dinosaurs starting with our Clown GM and Clown Coach, felt we still needed players with "Grit" over "Goals". Hockey Canada should be embarrassed, and they need to clean house from top to bottom.

The tournament has definitely lost some luster over the years.

What were the prices like this year? I think the tournament has lost some of its charm along the way as the ticket prices soared and they moved more and more into the big cities. It feels too corporate over the last decade or so.
Where I live in Canada the Minor hockey association has lost over 50% of the teams because of lack of players. In just 5 years.
