It wasn't. The puck literally just went through his legs as he was about to make contact and he tucked his shoulder and everything which is what you're supposed to do to make a nice clean shoulder to shoulder hit. You're just looking for excuses.
Gibson went knee first into his opponent...with the puck long gone. That hit was both late and dirty.
Yes, I just think the roster construction wasn't great. But they are kids, it's a learning experience. Cameron is a woeful choice. anyone who was played and watched a lot of hockey can see all the defects running through TC offering.I love seeing Canada lose, but still feel bad for those kids. Enormous pressure from an entire hockey-crazy country. Now they feel they ley everyone down. They didn't pick or coach the team.
Hardly ever win a game with one dominant period though.
No I wouldn’t. I’ve seen a cup and medals galore. My life is complete.
They barely even touched the puck for the final 40 minutes of the game LOL
It's not even the refs per se, the rules are just different.People thinking this is North American NHL reffing and not understanding what IIHF reffing is
bro how can you be blaming the refs, we sucked. woke politics? lol cmon budThat’s what we get for bringing in woke european referees. Everything and anything is a penalty against Canada.
If thr IIHF wants to bring in these f***s its time for Canada and the US to make the woke IIHF non-existent by removing all funding.
Border line. Hitter didn't stretch his leg out. The person being hit shifted his upper body to the side trying to avoid the check at the last minuteIt was 100% a penalty all day
Will you stop posting GARBAGE. It doesn't matter whether he was falling. His head was rammed into the boards by an arm/elbow. Should at least be 2 minutes even if itm was an accident. The Canadian penalty wasn;t even a hit. it was just a collision.Penalty for kneeing, and the elbow wasn’t a penalty. McKenna was already falling
Canadian Tom Selleck or Zach Werenski or whatever ruined it for Canada.
Knees will ALWAYS exist. And they will always be going in the same direction as the motion of the attempted body check. A player is in his right to dive away from a check, but if they get hit with that knee in the process, the refs (NHL and IIHF) should be smart enough to realize the intention was a body check and the kneeing ONLY happened cause of the diving away action. It actually isn’t a problem. Players are allowed to try to not get hit. Penalties happen when the guys going for a hit put their legs far apart so even if they don’t connect with the body, they don’t let the guy just walk by. When that happens and you only/mainly connect with the leg, you’re rightfully getting called, whether it’s a trip or a a knee. Keep your legs tight on your hit and you’re fine.
Yep, NBA and soccer tactics have made their way into hockey. I've seen players constantly baiting refs in games I've been watching. Its definitely worked.Players jumping out of the way to avoid being hit and leaving their knee out further instead of getting hit shoulder on shoulder or shoulder to chest need to stop being bailed out by these penalties. It's why they keep doing it and it's why players will turn their backs along the boards when they see someone coming to hit them. It's a problem in the NHL and every league.
It was a clear penalty. Definitely no 5+20, that would be a bullshit, but clear minor. It wasn't intentional, Gibson wanted to hit the player with his shoulder but came there late. Still a penalty for sure. This would be called in any IIHF game. I understand Canadians fans will be blaming the refs for this, fans whose team loses almost always use to be like that, nothing new. You're just looking for excuses.

What about a cup?You wouldn’t believe how many medals I’ve seen. It’s almost embarrassing.
I’m the… “hold a fuc**ing practice and put your players who PLAY TOGETHER… together” camp. One of the most unlikable coaching staffs/ roster builds in years. Hopefully this is a learning lesson to Hockey Canada to no galaxy brain the roster selection. Pick your most talented players ...
They should have been told not to make hits because IIHF assholes don.t know what a penalty is.Hockey Canada going with “grit and sandpaper” over skill at an IIHF tournament is hilarious. This isn’t a 7 game series in the WHL! They should’ve known how things would be called. Maybe a primer on how to throw an open ice hit would’ve been useful at the first practice.
Feel bad for the kids, but the coaching and management gave them no chance.
