Proposal: Q Hughes plus for Danault Clarke plus

almost as funny as vancouver fans thinking theyre contenders for one fluke season. or even funnier when he leaves in 2 years or is traded next year cause he wont resign.
I mean, they were a top 5 team last season based on when they were eliminated from the playoffs, so they were a contender last season (which is further evidenced by pushing a SCF team to game 7 without their Vezina nominated goalie and top goal scorer).

I don’t think many expected them to replicate their success, but still expected a playoff team, so it was a disappointing season for sure.

God awful.
I agree. No rational behind the OP's proposal. Van can still trade Quinn anywhere up to June 30, 2026. If they were to move him this off-season, the acquiring team should be a PO team that can win in the PO's. Increases their chances of extending Quinn.

Going to LA, doesn't do that.

I mean, NJ where his brothers are, they have Markstrom who is 35 with 1 year left on his contract. Will need Daws or someone to take over when he's done. They have depth on D coming up in their system. Up front, not getting the max they expected out of Meier. Add in Holtz not panning out. For them to get Quinn, they'd have to give up something as Van or any other club woudn't let him just walk to UFA.

So, any club wanting Hughes now, needs to be in a position to compete. That's not LA if they are relying on a 35 going on 36 year old Drew and a 38 year old Kopitar.

to Los Angeles Kings
QUINN HUGHES (2y @ $7.8500m)
TEDDY BLUEGER (1y @ $1.8000m)
NILS HOGLANDER (3y @ $3.0000m)

total cap = $12.6500m

to Vancouver Canucks
BRANDT CLARKE (1y @ $0.8634m RFA)
PHILLIP DANAULT (2y @ $5.5000m)
TREVOR MOORE (3y @ $4.2000m)
Liam Greentree
2025 LAK 1ST

total cap = $10.5634m

NOTES FOR LOS ANGELES
Trade Spence + pick + prospect to NYI for Pulock. This adds a bunch of cap, which means that the top 9 RW that would be replacing Kuzmenko will need to be a lot cheaper. Overall though, a forward group that's weaker is balanced out by a stronger than ever D core.

Kempe - Kopitar - Laferriere
Fiala - Byfield - ( UFA )
Hoglander - Blueger - Foegele
depth guy - Helenius - depth guy
13F = depth guy
14F = depth guy

"depth guy" = Lee / Malott / Turcotte / Thomas

Q Hughes - R Pulock
M Anderson - D Doughty
J Edmundson - ( UFA )
7D = Moverare

Kuemper

( UFA )

NOTES FOR VANCOUVER
Trade Willander out 1 for 1 - or package Willander with other asset(s) - and bring in a promising LHD... Power / Byram, Nikishin, Bichsel, Korchinski, Mintyukov / Zellweger, Lindstein, Molendyk, etc. Power, Nikishin and Mintyukov would be the 3 hardest to acquire here, but also the 3 most worth trying to find a deal for somehow.

Joshua - E Pettersson - Garland
O'Connor - Chytil - ( UFA )
Moore - Danault - DeBrusk
Aman - ( UFA ) - Sherwood
13F = Raty
14F = Bains

(Power/Nikishin/Mintyukov) - Hronek
M Pettersson - B Clarke
E Pettersson 2 - T Myers
7D = ( UFA )
callup = Mancini

Demko
Lankinen
waived #3 = Silovs
Terrible deal. Hughes is worth way more than Clarke and the other washed up players named here. No way we trade Hughes to LA for that, not to mention adding to Hughes 🤣 This is a day dream scenario for Kings fans.

An elite 3rd line shutdown center, an NHL-ready top RHD prospect with projectable top pairing potential who looked good in the LAK top 4 during the playoffs, an above-average 3rd line LW, one of the best under-20 RW prospects league-wide, a 1st round pick, and over $2 million in cap space. In exchange for 2 years of Quinn Hughes and two average 3rd liners who are probably better suited as very good 4th liners on a cup winner.
Dude Quinn Hughes is top dawg, franchise D, Norris winning dman. Its like trading Gretzky for bag of pucks. Hughes is the general manager in Vancouver, thats how big he is here. You trading him for that package is an insult to Canucks nevermind you add out great 3rd line center in Blueger who is our top PKer and FO guy plus Hoglander who has lots of potential and scored 24 goals last year and a play driver. Clarke is way overrated based on this offer.

Not to mention you overhype the hell out of the kings players. Suoer elite top of the line shutdown 3rd liner that couldnt shut down anything in Oilers series for 4th time. Abover average 3rd line LW 🤣 Then you call Hoglander and Blueger some trash 4th liners. Cmon, at least be a bit objective. Canucks also have lots of middle 6 players that are much better than Kings, they dont need kings 3rd liners. We have Joshua, Garland, Suter, Connor, Sherwood, Hoglander, Raty...all middle 6 forwards that are better quality than whatever the kings can offer. Adding 2 or 3 more middle 6 forwards to that group does absolutely nothing for Canucks.

NJD fans accept the offer of Hughes for Mercer, Nemec and Casey.

Similar trade for Kings would be Byfield, Clarke and Moore

Any potential trade involving Hughes with the Kings starts with Byfield+

There's no conversation or discussion otherwise. And I completely get why LA wouldn't want to trade him plus one of their top end prospects. So it's just not a deal that happens.
I Agree. Getting tired of seeing garbage trade offers for one of the best dman in the league with 2 years still remaining.

The whole Canucks organization combined won't fetch Byfield.

Beside that i agree, this trade is not happening
Hughes will fetch Byfield plus plus by himself buddy. Byfield hasnt done anything to even equal what Hughes is now. Hughes is a Norris winner. Byfield is what? I wasnt that impressed with him in the Oilers series. If it wasnt for Kempe going red hot and skinner being a sieve, Oilers might have swept the Kings.

easy no from the kings, greentree clarke and 1st is already a lot of youth to give up, then youre adding moore and danult on top of that.
Sorry but Canucks get way more than that if they deal with NJD. Not sure why kings would even bother with low ball offers. Clarke, greentree and a 1st still not enough.

No GM is sending a huge package out for Hughes if he is just going to Jersey when he hits UFA.
True, i dont even know why kings would bother getting Hughes. You would need to offer a huge package or you arent getting him and if you do get him, he will go to NJ in 2 years.

some people prioritize their dman to play D and not just put up points. the only player i would be worried to lose would be greentree.
If you watched Hughes ever play a game, you wouldnt say this. He can play defense and play it well. The reason why he won the norris last year and got nominated this year.

Horrendous for Vancouver but a nice morning laugh from Kings fans saying no
Why would the Kings kill all their depth for 1 guy. Hughes is great but he isn't going to stop McDavid. It's a ridiculous trade from LA's side to give up that much future and 2/3rds of your 3rd line for a guy that is off to New Jersey in 2 years. No one is bailing out Vancouver for Hughes.

So, the Kings are trading three roster players and their top prospect for Terri players they have no need for and one of the best Dmen in the league who most likely wouldn’t resign with the team, since he wanted to go east with his brothers. Not a chance the Kings touch that.

Just out of curiousity...

Take the OP offer and swap out Danault for Byfield.

Q Hughes + Blueger + Hoglander
for
Byfield + Clarke + Moore + 1st + Greentree

I'm not claiming Kings fans should say yes, but would you say yes?
i'd do clarke moore danult and a 1st. understand why cancuk fans would say no. but im not trading greentree. first promising powerfoward prospect kings have had in a long time.

kings are better off just selling all those players individually before a offensive first midget.

I agree. Just answering to the parameters of the OPs proposal. How that wouldn’t work for the Kings, two players they have no need for and a top D man that won’t resign with the team.
