Even i am not the biggest ep40 fan, but the guy dropped 100 points in this league just a year and a half ago, while being elite defensively

The actual issue is that we never ended the rebuild and just walked away from it because Kopitar and friends wanted their imaginary Stanley Cup reunion tour.

The Kings don't even belong into the playoff and are only there because 6 out of 9 teams are actually rebuilding.

Byfield is the centerpiece off the future, regardless if we like it or not.

That Vancouver has anything that the Kings need is pure fan fiction.

LA has already said they are going to be making a lot of changes.

Would a trade of Byfield for EP40 make sense for both teams?

- LA needs more offence. They are also in a win now mode as Kopitar and Doughty are reaching the twilight of their career. Byfield imo hasnt progressed as fast as LA has hoped especially offensively.

- Despite the disastrous season, Its easy to see an injury free EP40 get back to his 90-100 point seasons. He has history playing on a line with Kempe for the national team and if Kuzemnko re-signs in LA, then his 39 goal season was on the back of EP40 as his centre.

- This might work for Vancouver as it doesnt necessarily signal a rebuild, but it protects them in case Q Hughes walks in 2 years. However, they can find a way to be competitive now as well with Byfield being their 1 or 2c.

- Would free up about 6mil of cap space for Vancouver which would give them 24+ mil of cap space going into free agency. Will allow them to go big game huntin for another C or do it through the trade route as expected.

These 2 players are only 4 years apart. Byfield has the higher floor, but EP40 has a waaaay higher ceiling.

Playoffs: Byfield 12pts in 19 games, EP40 30 pts in 24 games.

I think LA adds another piece to entice Vancouver but I think its something that could be a win win for both teams. Both teams taking a risk as well.

Why in the hell would you want EP40 on your team? And on top of that trade Byfield for him? You’re not winning a damn thing w EP40. One of the biggest waste of talent in the league. He’s not a leader, a player you build a championship team around, he’s a “me” guy…not willing to do whatever it takes to win. Throw him in the same category as Matthews and Marner. You’re not winning the cup w any of those guys.
