If the Oilers can get a 1st they should do it. They cannot manage him, and his bust-likelihood is very high in any case.

BTW JP is probably worth like a 4th right now. The fact it's on record he doesn't want to go to the AHL does not bode well for any team to take enough risk of acquiring him so they can develop him in the AHL. So in other words.... the Oilers needs to trade with a team that's just as foolish as they are to keep him in the NHL.

Good luck.

I think if the Oil had a shot at the playoffs, which is slipping further and further away, they could get back a very good rental with resigning potential for him. I think he will still be a quality NHL guy so I would not trade him unless I was getting something good back.

I’d think a Tampa fan would know how dangerous it is to let other teams or the players themselves dictate their value. Edmonton needs to do exactly what Tampa did with Drouin and not a thing less.

The Oilers got a 3rd for Yakupov when he was 22 years old. I think I'd hold onto or hold out for more than a 4th for 20 year old Puljujavi

If that's the case Gretzky better have a "come to Jesus" moment with JP. But it's getting too late for that now. No matter what the Oilers need to stand their ground despite the fact they screwed up his development. There's nearly 2 months left and JP's options need to be "Do as we say or don't play at all"

I know it's a bad look and it's even worse for JP but this is a rare care where neither the club or player has a lot of options right now.

But JP has 37 points for his whole career when Yak was at least nearly managing that per season. Combine with what APPEARS to be an unwillingness to go to the AHL (I mean we don't know the whole story) I don't see his value as very high.
