Puck in the face

I wore braces for a year and a half. I am not sacrificing the time and money that was put into that to see a little easier on the ice.

Similar to what happened to me. A hard pass from a teammate got deflected to my face(I wear/wore a half shield) with no time to react. Top of my mouth went numb so figured I lost a couple of teeth. Thankfully it hit the top of my gum to the right of my nose only causing a small cut, and a reality check. Went to the locker room and pulled on my other helmet(with a cage on it) and have never switched back.

As for the question as to why people don't wear a cage. The obvious vision impairment. But most importantly to me, the chin cup. I can't stand the feel of a chin cup on my face(mine no longer touches my face completely but still annoying), along with the fact that a cage with a chin cup makes you sweat exponentially more, and unfortunately with that it's not nearly as easy to wipe away because... there's a cage stopping you from touching your face!!!

Hah yeah. The chin cup is a lot worse than the so called vision impairment. I can see just fine through the cages, and whenever I recall the games I played through memory, I can't see the bars.

But the chin cup gets really nasty during the games. Makes my chin uncomfortable as hell - especially if I didn't shave that day.

So last night I got hit in the nose with a puck, required several stitches and has a small break. Anyone else ever had this happen? No, I don't wear a visor. This is the second time I've been hit in the face :(

last winter i had a puck come off the glass and hit me right in the eye. I thought i had broke my nose because of the blood and instant swelling. i got up and went to the room to straighten it out (been a few breaks) then when i forced my eye open i could not see any thing. complete black. had to go to emergency where none of the resident docs would touch me. had to wait for a specialist to come in which took 3 hours (it was 2am by now). luckily i had no rupture of the eyeball and i was blind in that eye for 5-6 days. my pupil still does not undialate properly so i have to have sunglasses at all times outside. i have to see the eye doctor every 4-6 weeks as an injury can increase the chances of glaucoma by alot. oh and all this happened the day after my wedding lol. so yeah i wear a visor now.

Yea that's a problem but ppl can always wipe their face and unlatch the cage on the bench. a bit of a hassle but until we can make forcefields that's the best we can do. I heard fishbowls are worse since they get all foggy. Visors don't have that problem but you sacrifice protection

11 missing teeth, only 7 fixed :D
I kinda take pride on my 2 missing front teeth...

Lost them from blocking some slap shots, face boarded, elbowed. What's funny is the last 5 teeth I lost was from my own teammates. Word of advice: if you're 5'6 don't try to screen slap shots :D

I guess if you want to make losing teeth into a hobby, that's certainly an option...a weird option, but an option nonetheless.

Don't forget, lost teeth = a visit from Dwayne Johnson and a couple of bucks under your pillow.

If you were a shark with lots of teeth coming in all the time to replace old ones, it could be a very lucrative hobby.

I've taken a puck to the cage before. Never had one hit my face.

So you ran home after getting hit in the face with a puck to post here telling everyone how you got hit in the face. What exactly was the purpose of your post then other then looking for a little attention to show us how manly you are that u took a puck to the face :dunno:
Yes, I ran home. Do you listen to yourself before you post? I'm sharing an experience, get over yourself. What's really laughable here is the guy who's saying that I'm looking for attention is posting in this thread more than anyone.

Stinks that these people only realize how important a cage is until they have suffered a severe injury. I bet if you ask those people they will say they didnt know what they were thinking when they didnt use one in hindsight.

That's great you know, tell me how many NHL players wear a cage. I guess they're all just trying to prove how manly they are right?

They're not allowed to wear cages most of the time. It's against NHL rules unless they have a facial injury that needs to be protected.

Two front teeth and 77 stitches. Then 6 months later had a scrap with some idiot in my beer league and lost them both again. :(
I still don't were a visor or cage, always my mouth guard though.

I am a goalie so yes I have but only in my cage, but don't think it is fun in any way at all. I took a slapper from about six feet out and it put me out for the most part. black is all I seen and ears ringing like a bi**h, then stars and a hell of a headache! not worth it to me any more I just move my head out of the way Lol.:headache:
