I really don't understand the issue here.
Why do you care if the puck drop time matches the stated time on NHL.com? You know when the game actually starts, so just wait until then to turn on your television.
There's no way TV is just going to tune in for the drop of the puck without any buildup beforehand. I suspect your suggestion is "well they can buy the half hour slot before the game" which sounds all well and good until you realize we live in the real world and that costs money and there's no way they would want to do that.
It's a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" scenario here, IMO.
