Value of: PSA--Sabres trade proposals

Going fioward... dont want to post this in every trade proposal thread

Stop posting trades for either Byrun, Cozens, Tuch, or others for future picks and/or prospects.

Only ones I see picks/ prospect trades for are the pending UFAs jokiharju, Greenway, and Zucker

If buffalo trades and others from their main roster - they are hockey trades. They would be looking for 1/2C, pure 1/2 RD ( none if this left playing right)

Buffalo is not taking 28+ players on long contracts (5+ full yrs)

Tuch -' he was the main piece coming back for Eichel. He was born and raised in western ny and grew up a Sabres fan. If buffalo was going to trade him it would be for a high profile player ( petersson, mcdavid) . If They trade him for futures the PR damage would be huge.

There would have to be a falling out next season where they cant sign Tuch facing UFA and the deadline. I expect him signed in the summer.

Buffalo gas a loaded prosprct pool currently. In a few years they may have to decide on who to keep and who to trsde from this prospect pool from 20-24 drafts . At that point is when they might entertain getting futures to restock orispects

We have 84729947 prospects. We don’t need even a fraction of them. We can trade them for players. At this point, the only guys outside of the NHL that I’m somewhat attached to are Helenius and Levi.

E: Wahlberg, too, to an extent, just because our pool doesn’t have a lot of size.

E2: It’s also not that nobody else on the team is available. It’s that we’re not moving them for a handful of air with some hopes and dreams inside it. If you want a roster player that’s not a pending UFA who already has a foot out the door, it’s gotta be a hockey trade.

Like Djp said, Zuckerberg, Joker or Greenway could go for picks or prospects, but if anyone wants Power, Byram, or Cozens, Buffalo wants hockey trades, with current NHL level comparable talent in return, not picks or prospects. I thought he made that pretty clear.

The Sabres front office is unfortunately in love with all their young players and prospects. They have a real inability to depart from them in any meaningful way.

They should identify the players they want to build around and the prospects to keep, and then go scorched earth trading away the youth for some established players. But they can decide which players they like and want to keep

And it should be noted that the jury is very much out on the winner of that trade. McLeod started hot but cooled off. Savoie started cold but has 10 points in his last 4 AHL games.
 
Tough time to be a Sabres fan. The only trades that make sense are "hockey trades" and those are hard to come by. Every GM knows that the Sabres are desperate

If the trade needs to be short term players plus prospects, you'll need to find the right trading partners, mainly those that want to get younger but not completely blow it up or are already rebuilding.

Pittsburgh, NYI, NYR, Calgary, SJ, Anaheim, maybe Seattle, would be the obvious ones to start.

I'm not sure there are many players on those teams to pick from that fit what you want, for the price you want.

They're not hard to find, our GM is just an idiot. I counted five RDs that traded that would have been good fit for our top 4 and play with Power, but our GM did nothing. And this is just one example.

Yes and this goes back to the mittlestadt-byrum trade

They wanted to add a top 4D, they preferred a RD, but took a better D in byram that is level above what they needed.

How much did Mittlestadt resign for? 5.75 for 3yr. How much do you think 5+ yrs would have cost buffalo? Something north of 6.5M and likely more if it goes longer to 5+ yrs

That is too much for what they had in mind for a 3C in terms of the cap with 2 other C signed higher

How much is McLeod? Dont see him resigning for more than $5M this off season as an RFA
 
There’s been a lot of speculation around Dobson for Peterson but I never saw that fit. With the Sabres desperately needing a RHD, would something like Byram + Peterka for Dobson or Power + for Dobson work?

You guys want JT Miller? Would likely need a center coming back (Cozens+ or Byram+).

Are you, in fact, Kevyn Adams?

Imo, that's exactly the kind of players you need to get in that lockerroom with the young/youngish players who have a losing culture tattooed on their spine by now.

Specifically the positions you said, like a 2C (keep Cozens on the wing, if he doesn't go in a trade) and top 4 RHD, someone who can back up their talk by actual top of the lineup playing ability, instead of someone like the corpse of EJ.

There's no such thing as "fit for timeline" or "in a couple of years" for the current generation of Sabres. They need to start consistently winning. Like last year. That Adams didn't get Pesce or Roy was unbelievable. Considering what they actually signed for, I'd think one of them would have signed for the Sabres for an extra million per year for the same term. Such a contract would have been well worth it, imo.

Imo, they should put atleast Rosèn, Wahlberg and one of Östlund and Helenius on the table. R Johnson, too, if they're keeping all three puckmoving LHD.
