Bottom 20% would mean losing 73 goals from last year and scoring at a rate worse than the Islanders last year. Really think that’s going to happen?

I don't believe its the most likely outcome, no. I'm just saying if at year's end you said we were indeed bottom 20%, it wouldn't be this insane unbelievable shock. It's in the realm of outcomes.

I personally believe the top 6 actually has a chance to be very good too, fwiw. I think underestimating Zacha and Coyle is probably a losing proposition. Our team's issue is there's 2 injuries that if they happen, we're literally f'd. So the range of scoring outcomes hinges a lot on that sort of variance.

Numbers game

JVR-Zacha-Pasta
March-Coyle-JDB
Freddy-Poitras-Heinen
Lucic-Geekie-Lauko
Greer
Like your lineup, except I would rather have Beecher at C move Geekie to RW.
The issue is that Lauko is not waiver exempt and someone would surely grab him if we put him on waivers. Beech can be sent down, so I think its a numbers game and he will probably start the year in the AHL.
Not sure if anyone would pick up Greer if we put him on waivers and kept Lauko as the extra forward?
Brown has not showed me he deserves a spot.

Wasn't much of a fight because they were off balance befor punches could be thrown. Vesey's lucky because Coyle was irate after getting hit from behind and would have teed off on him.

That was the most pissed off I've ever seen Charlie Coyle. I texted my brother and said "Charlie Coyle is trying to pick a fight. That's something you don't see every day."

Beecher needs to be center only constantly in motion - standing at LW is blah

I believe they are friends and that might be why - it was like wtf bro

Mason Lohrei should 100% be part of this hockey team.

If Bruins management goes the conservative route here, then they are as bad as Monty's coaching in the playoffs. Going with old veterans over these promising young kids is a losing formula, every single time. The fan base is excited and after the departure of Krech and Bergeron, we want to see young blood, not old veterans on the downslope of their career. Risk takers get rewarded, while staying in the lane usually never does. My fear is that management goes for the status quo. Plodding veterans over the kids. How utterly boring.

Let's see what they do?
Lohrei is really the only one that might be the victim of going with "old vets" (in his case, Shattenkirk and Forbort). Poitras will be a top-9 centre. The only C who might be remotely seen as an "old vet" is Coyle, at 31, and he's not going anywhere, nor should he. Zacha is in his mid-20s. The only other competition really is Geekie or maybe Freddy for 3C - neither is an old vet.

Same with Beecher. He'll be 4C or he'll be sent down. Which "old vet" centre is blocking his way?

It's a false narrative, imo. Except for Lohrei, it's not whether the team goes with "old vets" over exciting youngsters, it's whether these youngsters are ready to play at the NHL level now. Their readiness will be the deciding factor.

I didn't see what happened between Coyle & Vesey, I assumed they had a fight.

Not technically, there were no fighting majors. But both got their mitts up, they just aren't fighters, so they tumbled over. I'm pretty sure Charlie threw one as they were going down, but I could be mistaken.

So, 3-4 really good games get overshadowed by one ok game?

I mean, he’s not exactly battling with Pastrnak for a spot.

I think he’s done more than enough to be the 4c on Wednesda.

I don’t see Geekie on the 4th line.

I‘ll probably be wrong about it, but I think Beecher makes it.
We'll find out. I'm not saying he's not good enough, what I was saying is that he does not have a spot to lose, he has one to earn. And it was unfortunate he didn't finish off with a great game to clearly show he has earned it over vets which the staff may be more comfortable with, right or wrong.

Who and what was that one play where I think the Bruins were on the PK and kinda hemmed in the zone, one of the Bruins broke his stick and looked clueless for a second and even looked back to the bench like "what do I do George?"

I was half paying attention.

 And this was the guy everyone was upset about not getting a few seasons ago.
Best part of that whole thing was when the Sabres traded a 3rd for his rights and he said no.

Then traded another 3rd for him three years later in exchange for 20 points.

I'd guess both Greer & Lauko would get plunked off waivers

Greer is a journeyman guy, while he could be picked up, he's hardly someone if lost we couldn't replace internally.

Lauko, I like, but could go either way. I think from the games I saw, that he earned a spot. But previous years guys have went through waivers no issue, and then again someone picked up Karson Kuhlman, so depends on where he falls on other teams radar. I personally wouldn't waive him, but Greer, I have no issue risking.

When they put Poitras out there for the final 30 seconds I was little nervous they were giving him that as his final hurrah before being sent down.

From Monty’s post game interview it sounds like he’s sticking around though. Kid looks like a stud. Will be so happy to see him get at last those 9 games.

Marchand comparing him to Marner, like many have around here. What a compliment for this kid!
I hope and do think he has more heart than Marner. Marner disappears no playoffs
