This article: http://www.rantsports.com/nhl/2013/...le-clifford-dustin-penner-ready-to-leave-l-a/

It is hard to figure twitter out because things don't follow in a line.

Here is the first from Penner https://twitter.com/Dustinpenner25/statuses/349980459368841216
and this one
https://twitter.com/Dustinpenner25/status/349986754092220416

I have no clue how to make it show up correctly

What's Penner mad about? The article didn't say anything that everyone didn't already know: Penner's regular season numbers and performance have not been stellar, his playoff contributions are valuable, he makes pretty good money, and the Kings might not be able to afford him.

The only thing that's really a stretch is the claim that the Kings brought in Frattin expressly because they planned on losing Penner, but the wording makes it clear it's speculation.

I just noticed something, here is the URL for that blog post:

Code:
http://www.rantsports.com/nhl/2013/06/23/los-angeles-kings-rumors-kyle-clifford-dustin-penner-ready-to-leave-l-a/
It reads Los Angeles Kings Rumors Kyle Clifford Dustin Penner readty to leave LA

Now look at the preview that twitter is giving:

Rant Sports
Los Angeles Kings Rumors: Kyle Clifford, Dustin Penner Ready To Leave...
The Los Angeles Kings acquired Matt Frattin along with Ben Scrivens and a second-round pick from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Jonathan Bernier went to Canada where he will join the Leafs. The Kings... (There is a picture of Clifford in the preview)

That is not the article that is there when you go the URL

Blues Shattenkirk supposedly getting 4 @4.25/year from the Blues (info under trade rummors on main board)... That level is tight... anything over 4.25+ and 4 years isn't looking good for keeping Scuds.... :(

Not really comparables. VV is his comparable.

His last comment was that the guy was mixing up opinion and fact so something set him off. Whether it was the part about him not being in LA since he sold his house, or if he even did sell his house, or that his agent was looking for a new team...holy crap they have completely changed the story! I just saw it now and they took all of that out!

Sneaky ********.

Yup they removed everything controversial. Basically said Penner can't wait to leave, stuff you saw mentioned above, etc. The new article is just the fluff we know, but the previous one was pretty ballsy

As far as the fact part....****..prove them wrong Penner. Sign cheap!

I'll buy you a Shaky's bunch o' lunch with mojo potatoes. And we'll all kick in and get you an IHOP gift card

Pearson and Vey's Cap hit is 925k

Nether will be on the roster if Scuds resigns.

Guys like Nolan 525k Lewis 725k King 758k Clifford 675k Will make up the bulk of the bottom six.

The original story said that Penner sold his LA home. That is what set Penner off. Colin Fraser had this gem:
Colin FraserVerified account ‏@colinfraser

@Dustinpenner25 @rantsports you owned a house in LA? I Played with you for 2 seasons. I never knew that. #interesting

And Brown's contract will be very interesting. I could see him re-signing for $4.5m on the long term if a NMC is thrown in. Hopefully that is the case. Don't really want to see him in another uniform, his jersey is destined for the rafters if he signs that deal.

I'm right with you on the 4.5M maybe even 4.25M

I hadn't thought about an NMC offer, but that's a class move for Brownie since he IS our captain and he DID take a home discount first time around. Maybe then he can afford to buy his teammates dinner once in awhile.

Streit just got $5.25M, I know he is a PMD, but people are always desperate for defenseman. Volchenkov and Ballard, for example, both make over $4M, and let's not forget the Redden debacle 5 or so years ago.

Streit isn't, wasn't and never will be a comp for Rob Scuderi. Ballard is a buyout candidate and like you said, that was 5 years ago. I actually think you made my point for me.

I think this is kind of a crappy year to be an UFA. Guys aren't going to be offered near as much $$$ as they are next year from good teams. The teams that are going to benefit most are the bubble teams, they can toss enough extra dough at teams to make up for the reduced chance of winning.

It's not going to matter for the Kings anways, I guess. They don't have the wiggle room to overpay even a little bit for players. Even at discount rates it's going to be difficult to keep Scuderi.

It's BS that the cap goes down so sharply and doesn't let teams who don't have a buyout because they're managed well to re-sign their own players.

Option 1) lose Penner.. Try to fill hole for 1-1.5 million in the 2nd LW
Brown/Frattin/Clifford/King/Pearson.... long shot Holloway ...

Option 2) lose Penner, Lose 1 of Scuderi/Mitchel, D is then
DD/RR
VV/RS
AM/JM
KE

Are people comfortable. with Martinez/Muzzin as a bottom pairing.. they have a year to improve... that provides about 4 million to go after a UFA for LW2nd line.... with RS signing around 4 million

Any other options? (other then swapping out WM for RS?)

That's what I was missing... started to panic about AM/JM...

Plugging Green back in lose 2 of Penner/RS/WM and have about 3 mill to fill LW 2nd line....

I don' know if there is going to be enough money to go around on a lot of teams

Kings just have to be willing to shed Fraser (replaceable) and Ellerby (VERY replaceable) for picks...Then Scuds is very doable and maybe Holloway too.
