A lot will depend on how the team does the rest of the season. If the team feels comfortable with Strait as a regular dman going into next year I think you are right. Otherwise, I think we add a vet.
I think Snow has a plan for inserting his young dman.
Streit leaves --> Donovan or De Haan comes in
AMac leaves --> De Haan or Reinhart comes in
Visnovsky leaves --> next in line
I think Hickey was originally a stop-gap, but he may be playing himself into long term (bottom pair) plans.
The Isles may well face a logjam of sorts on defense in a few years, but I think Amac will be here for many years still. The organization loves him and I think he'll sign a reasonable deal in the summer (ie. 4 years 8 million). In the end he'll be a bottom pairing guy but a pretty good one at that
