I’m pretty sure the organization is a lot higher on Belliveau than us fans.
In an article yesterday from Taylor Haase, she reported that a source within the org told her there were two NHL players in Wheeling last year: Gauthier and Belliveau. Looks like they'll be the next two off the board here, and IMO they fell too far.

I’m pretty sure the organization is a lot higher on Belliveau than us fans.
I wish I had a link to this, because I forget where I saw it, but at one point I saw a report that said that Dubas believes in using the ECHL as a development league, and not just a dead-end assignment. To that end, Belliveau was assigned to Wheeling specifically to make sure he would get top-4 minutes, rather than getting bottom pairing minutes, at best, as a rookie in the AHL.

That's actually not a bad way to make use of the ECHL, even if the competition is so much lower.
