Submit your prospect rankings and I will average them all together in a week!

Ranking prospects via polls is good for producing more extensive discussions, but if we are going for accuracy, the integrity of the rankings is compromised in several ways using that method, especially when the pollster makes unilateral decisions that affect results lol.

So, I'm offering my services to aggregate everyone's personal list. The method is fairly simple:
  1. Post your personal prospect rankings in this thread - I'll request top-20 as a baseline, but if you go with more or less, it will be weighted appropriately.
  2. I will assign an inverse scoring system to your rankings - more explanation to come, but something like 30 points for #1, 29 points for #2, etc. (I'll actually try a few different scoring methods to see how results may differ)
  3. I will combine the scoring of all lists and in about a week (maybe with an extension if there are stragglers) I will average them and post the results here.
The only player in question in terms of prospect status is Edvinsson. I'm guessing most posters will consider him graduated, although HF used to use the threshold of 65 NHL games played for prospect status. Though I found it appropriate in the offseason to continue to count Ed as a prospect, I'm fine calling him graduated at this point, especially since he's almost certainly the #1 if we all ranked him. So I say go ahead and exclude Ed. He'll always be #1 in your heart.

EDIT: I realized Johansson's prospect status may be a question for some. AlJo is still considered a prospect, despite losing waiver exemption. Consider AlJo in your rankings.

So let's go, post your rankings! I'll start compiling.

My top 12:
1Marco Kasper
2Nate Danielson
3Axel Sandin Pelikka
4Sebastian Cossa
5Michael Bransegg Nygård
6Carter Mazur
7Trey Augustine
8Max Plante
9William Wallinder
10Dmitri Buchelnikov
11Ondrej Becher
12Emmit Finnie

- Despite my criticism of Marco, he's the top prospect because he's definitely gonna have an NHL career. The only question is whether he's gonna develop enough scoring ability to be top 6 instead of 3rd line. I think this season in GR will answer that question.

- Pretty sure the top 5 will have NHL careers.

- Mazur will play in the NHL, if he can bulk up a bit more he should be a regular. I'm pleasantly surprised that he gained some weight over the summer.

- Burger and AlJo not included since they are on the NHL roster.

- Bottom 6 are just kids that might make the NHL if they hit their ceiling. Bit too early to judge some of them.

I definitely lean a little heavier on NHL likelihood. Like I think MBN, ASP, and Cossa have the highest ceilings but I think Kasper and Danielson are more likely to get to the NHL and max out their ceilings.

Top 10 I'm pretty solid on having NHL careers. Maybe not all with the Wings or not in top end roles but I feel good on them being NHLers. Maybe Plante at 10 is questionable for me as I haven't seen a ton of him. 11-15 is my potential group. 16-20 are unlikely but ya never know.

1. Danielson - If he hits we have a big time mover and shaker. A top shutdown defensive center. Who has the potential to be an exciting puck distributing monster.

2. ASP - Exciting puck moving D-man with the agility to create shooting/passing lanes from the blueline.

3. Cossa- Poor man's Vasilevskiy *:crossfing

4. Kasper- Always been a big fan of Kasper, thou I did begin to wonder if he had a limited offensive potential. Im very happy to be proven somewhat wrong on that front so far this season. Another top end checking C.

5. MBN- Bully power forward with a laser for a shot. Love his dynamicisms. :naughty:

6. Augustine- Poor man's Quick *:crossfing

7. Wallinder - Big smooth skating puck moving defensemen. The perfect partner for a Seider in the long run.

8. Mazur - Super pest every good contending team has. Chip in with plenty of goals.

9. Buchelnikov - Big home run pick. Could finally fill the dearth of creativity that has plagued the Wings since Datsyuk left. What will determine how far he can go is how much lower body strength he develops. To boost his ability to protect the puck and win board battles.

10. AJo - Smooth skating low maintenance defender. Doesnt have the same defensive ceiling that Wallinder has due to size.

11 Dylan James- My fav under the radar prospect, speedster forechecking demon, Penalty killing
speacialist. If he can develop a scoring touch be a very nice prospect to throw into the mix.

12. Lombardi

13. Plante

14. Finnie

15. Kiiskinen

16. NDN

17. Buium

18. Keenan

19. Becher

20. Anton Johansson

Can I just say if you're going to include a Dower-Nilsson on your list make sure its Noah. Liam's not going to get a NHL contract.

If you had to rank AlJo, where would you put him?

Top 15

1. Danielson
2. Kasper.
3. ASP.

Danielson/Kasper almost a toss up for me. Probably more bullish on Buch than others, but he's having a really strong start to the year (14 points in 15 games).

Three tiers, could be re-ordered other ways within those tiers, obviously fluid throughout and will be different at mid-season.. MBN to me is the real deal for potential star quality.

My ranking as of the end of summer had Kasper 5th. I can't help but push him higher now (recency bias, admittedly), which is not a slight to the other prospects

The ranking also takes in potential, so there's a chance that Red Savage becomes an NHL player and Ondrej Becher does not despite me thinking that Becher has higher potential

Top of the Lineup
1) Nate Danielson
2) Marco Kasper
3) Axel Sandin-Pellikka
4) Sebastian Cossa
5) Michael Brandsegg-Nygård
6) Trey Augustine

Middle of the Lineup
7) Albert Johansson
8) Carter Mazur
9) Dmitri Buchelnikov

Bottom of the Lineup
10) Amadeus Lombardi
11) William Wallinder
12) Emmitt Finnie
13) Ondrej Becher

NHL Call-ups
14) Shai Buium
15) Jesse Kiiskinen
16) Max Plante
17) Anton Johansson
18) Dylan James
19) Red Savage
20) Brady Cleveland
