The problem is, where do you play him?

The leafs weakest top 9 winger is probably McMann, Knies and Robertson but all 3 have 20 goal potential and McMann and Knies have more size. So he would really need to beat out Robertson for the final top 9 winger spot which seems unlikely and playing a skilled winger like Cowan on the 4th line doesn’t make sense IMO.
