Speculation: Proposed Alumni Game Roster

With the recent talk of an Alumni Game and Melnyk's wish to make it a big statement for the league, who do you want to see come out? TSN1200 tried to create controversy with its Heatly vs Yashin comments, but lets play a more cerebral game of intent. Who's on your wish list roster?, leaving out those still playing the game next year.

Here's mine

Forwards
McEachern – Kelly - Alfredsson
Arvedson – Bonk – Havlat
Schaefer – White – Dackell
Prospal - Van Allen - Donovan
Smolinski, Gardiner

Defence
Phillips – Volchenkov
Redden – Gonchar
York – Salo
Laukkinen – Kuba
Neckar

Goal
Tugnutt
Rhodes
Prusek

So many good names to choose from.
 
I have to believe that this would be the best opportunity to finally bury the hatchet with Yashin. I'd also have Lalime and Emery in goal.

Looking down the middle reminds me more of why we failed so many times to the leafs :cry:

Beat me to it - I was just about to comment on the lack of quality centres as alum... but not sure that Ya$hin should be a part of things... his petulant contract demands cut too deep.

Yep we had the all star group of wingers ,Centered by greats such as Todd White ,and Smoke ,not saying they were bad .But man alive ,they just werent good enough :cry:
 
I'm ready to bury the hatchet in regards to Yashin.

Shawn McEachern - Alexei Yashin - Martin Havlat
Magnus Arvedson - Todd White - Daniel Alfredsson
Andreas Dackell - Radek Bonk - Vaclav Prospal
Dean McCammond - Sean Van Allen - Sean Donovan

Chris Phillips - Anton Volchenkov
Jason York - Wade Redden
Janne Laukkaunen - Sami Salo

Have to get players from the first few seasons here for that game. Norm Maciver, laurie Bochman, Jamie baker, Brad marsh.

Then would look at players on the roster the first year we made the playoffs. Duchesne, Cunneyworth,McEachern, Dackell,Van Allen, York, Bonk

Stanley Cup finals players: Alfie,Schaefer and so on
 
Heatley is the only player I wouldn't want in an alumni game. Unless of course we could see him on camera giving Melnyk his 4 million back.

Wasn't there some kind of bad blood between Shaeffer and the organization after he left? Or am I making that up? Not that it really matters, as I have Yashin in my lineup, haha.

Cunneyworth should definitely be there, that was an oversight on my end. Was a great captain here for a few years, no reason not to ask.

Would love to see Pitlick and Duschene there as well.

I don't think Murray and Schaefer had the best relationship, but I don't think it would stop him from coming back to play in an alumni game.

He's a player development coach with the team now. Can almost guarantee he'll be involved in an alumni game, since he works for the team and all.
