Pronman Ranking U23 NHL Players and Prospects

Pronman is trash click bait. The click bait part is being proved by the engagement in this thread. Ignore him. It's the only way he will get the point that he absolutely sucks.

Guys, disagree with Pronman all you want, but it's not hard for him to justify his rankings. He specifically says his rankings reflect who he thinks is going to have the best career. So any player who is already in the league and doing it, whether he's right or wrong, he can easily argue, "sure, but that's the ceiling."

I'm with posters who think he's stubborn and probably wrong on Hutson, for example, and I agree his skill rankings are meaningless, but I don't think it's a good argument to say "how can he think X is worse than Y when X is already in the league and doing it?" Answer: he thinks in 15 years the Y player will have surpassed the X player. Simple.

Pronman is out of his league. The chances are 0 that he has watched every person listed enough over the last 6 months to justify their position.

Organizations spend a lot of money to scouts and then come to a consensus (stubbornly) on a final list 1 through whatever. It's incredibly easy to see his list and know it lacks honest effort. I wouldn't even care if Pronman would preemptively say something like "this is my best guess" instead of the list being more of a "I have done my homework on every player and these are the final results"

I will only concentrate on the Blues prospects here. He has the following:

#54 Jiricek
#62 Dvorsky
#71 Snuggerud
#117 Neighbors
#133 Jecho*

To put Jecho over guys like Stenberg, Lindstein, Bolduc, Stancl (and probably more) goes against reality. I guarantee nobody within the Blues organization rates Jecho as the 5th best prospect under 23.

What is Pronman's evidence that Jecho is this good? Let's take a look at his own ratings:

Skating = Below average
Puck skills = Average
Hockey sense = Below average
Compete = Average
Shot = Above average

Glowing endorsements.

The cherry on top, to show Pronman doesn't actually put in the work, is his order of Blues prospects were the exact same last year.

It’s a different original take. In the end it really doesn’t matter. As a Habs fan I have a few disagreements, but it’s just a take it changes nothing. Should Hutson be that low? No but this ranking does not affect his career. It won’t make Hutson worst or all the guys in front of him better.

Should Slafkovsky be ahead of Demidov? I like Slafkovsky but having watched every minute of every game of both players this season, I don’t know how this can be justified. But it’s ultimately just an original list that makes us talk. I don’t think Pronman deserves any hate.

Just here to say Pronman deserved so much more hate for that Hutson ranking lmao.

Let's just hope his average compete in the playoff hunt (18 points in 15 games) can make up for him not yet being a top 4 defenseman (60+ 5 on 5 xgf% in that timespan against top lines)

100%. Hutson is a gem. Honestly one of the best forwards in his draft.

Even a few months ago when it was clear Hutson was headed towards a 1D he was trying to cite how NHL teams tell him they wouldn’t want a player like Quinn Hughes or Adam Fox in the playoffs because they aren’t that big.
