As long as we continue to get 940 goaltending and going undefeated in the skills competition we will be A-OK
That seems unlikely MBM but the hockey is entertaining and will be even MORESO when Pistol Pete is back. I dont think too many of us were expecting the playoffs this year but the team has been more interesting to watch and since we are here to be entertained this looks to be an improved year.

Its fascinating how Gudbranson singlehandedly screws over an entire line. Junior quality passing, giveaway after giveaway, putting every other skater in a poor position due to his poor puck control etc etc. It truly is fascinating that he's making as much money as he is. It's hilarious to think he was asking for big money when he was in Florida and that's why they traded him.

He's always step behind when forcheck approach him, it's like he still doesn't understand that 95% of the league is faster than him

Alright, assuming we submarine and we are far out of the playoffs by the trade deadline, who do we sell off?

Edler for a late 1st (assuming he waives; we could have a handshake deal where we promise to re-sign him in free agency like what Toronto did with Winnick).

Nilsson or Markstrom if either has decent enough stats; preferably Nilsson if we don't bring him back. I'd take pretty much any draft pick or prospect for him tbh.

Schaller and Leipsic if anyone wants them.

Edler, with a good GM, would get a late first and a prospect. Nilsson/Markstrom would get at least a pick or a prospect. Ditto for Schaller and Leipsic. But we probably get this year version of Jokinen.

MDZ, Hutton, Pouliot, and Granlund are all on expiring deals so any of them if someone is interested.

I forgot about MDZ. We should shelter his minutes and deployment to boost his value; I could see a team offering up a 3rd round pick for him at the trade deadline if he looks like a competent top 4. He looked like a decent top 4 for the first quarter of last season.

I'm ok with holding onto Hutton, Pouliot, and Granlund if they improve this season.

I say take what you can on any of them. None of them will be in long term plans. Granlund hopefully is replaced with someone from Utica next year along with potentially Motte. Hutton won't get qualified this offseason because of his cap hit so he's essentially a UFA. And Hughes will replace Pouliot's role next year and hopefully excel at it. I agree fully on MDZ and Edler needing to be moved at the TDL but I would want Edler back preferably on a 2 year deal come July 1st.

Next year blueline:
Edler-Stecher
Hughes-Tanev
Juolevi-Gudbrandson (ugh)

Then the following year hopefully Tryamkin does return and takes either Stecher but preferably Gudbrandson's spot since he can also play his off side.
