OT: Priority waste needs to go as our sponsor. We need a petition.

Why do we have a trash company as our sponsor. I hate the idea of this shit. We need to get away from this.9 years no playoffs. Why do we have them as a sponsor? It's just a bad look man.

A trash company sponsors a trash-performing team—and believe me, the symbolism isn’t lost on anyone.

Yeah, this isn’t even new anymore—and that’s the problem. We’ve been watching this team spiral for years, and they’re still out here rocking a garbage company logo like it’s something to be proud of. It’s embarrassing. At this point, it feels like they’ve just accepted mediocrity. I don’t care if it’s local—get Priority Waste off the jersey. It sends the wrong message, and honestly, it’s just sad. We need a petition or something. Enough’s enough.

Hate the trash patch but it's not going anywhere. Little Caesars Arena recently renamed the Huntington Bank entrance to the Priority entrance, too.

Not to mention the Tigers, another Ilitch team, have about 10 Priority logos in their new home plate club.

No petition is going to change anything. They will pick a sponsor no matter what, they aren't giving up money. We are talking about greedy business owners here.

Honestly doesn't really outrage me I kind of enjoy the irony actually. The outrage for me is that there is a f@@@ing sponsor at all. I miss silver dome, Olympia, Tiger's stadium, Joe Louis and palace. Instead corporate f@@@ing logo burning out my eyeballs when they used public f@@@ing funding to build the arena and negotiated barely paying any taxes for decades. Sports stadiums used to be a community thing, now its just another casino for the 1%.

Remember they sold the project on this, and then bait and switch, because of course

If it weren’t also punishing myself as a fan, I’d be rooting for the Wings to never make the playoffs as long as that trash ad is on Mr. Hockeys sweater.

There’s no way Gordie would’ve approved of this if he were still alive. Shame on Chris Ilitch.

I hope Priority knows that because I'm a Red Wings fan, I'll be sure to never give them any business-as will be the case with any advertiser that dare ruin our jersey.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Priority is the dumpster of choice for Little Caesar’s and gives them a suspiciously low contract price.

Meijers is already on helmets maybe put them on the jersey vs helmet?

Thinking of who advertises on game day I only see a few as ESPN will block at times

Belle Tire?

Figer Law

Bernstein Law

Mernards?

Ford/Chevy? after all it is the motor city

Unfortunately, that means nothing. The Oilers, along with the Canadiens, Bruins, Blackhawks, Leafs, and nearly every NHL team now have ads on their jerseys (and helmets), regardless of what great players of the past would have thought

The NHL started with putting on helmet advertisements to make up for the revenue lost during COVID, and we all knew that was the first domino toward jersey advertisements.

Literally 99.9% of the fan reaction on the Priority Twitter account was extremely negative, but the Red Wings don't care. They're getting money for it. Doesn't make it right, but it's real.

I hate it, but it's how things are now. I'd wager people said the same thing when advertisements began making their way on the boards and then the ice back in the 70s and 80s.

Shame on Chris Ilitch.

Agreed, especially because of his shameful dereliction of duty when it comes to District Detroit, which to this day remains nothing but a collection of tarped off fields.

I'm even more confused as to why none of the idiots who run the city of Detroit are putting any pressure on him to follow through on his promises on the District when he took taxpayer dollars to build his new playpen and Little Caesars world headquarters on Woodward across from Comerica Park.

Ah, that looks so pretty!

honestly i'm surprised people still care about the whole trash thing so much

like yeah a garbage company advertising on jerseys sounds silly but i'll take that over Amway any day and people seem to have way more of an objection to the idea of a garbage company being a sponsor than they ever did with them for some reason

It's because the team has been a dumpster fire for the past decade. I changed my avatar back.

I would gue$$ that the lack of pre$$ure from the city come$ down to one $imple a$pect: a different kind of pre$$ure from the billionaire$ who routinely pull this non$en$e.

I want no ads at all, but Gordie would have played and not said a peep publicly about it, just like players today say nothing about it. I am sure there are lots or players that hate all the ads, just like we do. End of the annoying day, ads are on jerseys to stay and no matter how annoyed you or I are about it, it won't change, because people will still pay to watch and keep going to the games, and that is only way greedy business people would ever make a change, if their revenue stream was hindered.

Same reason virtually all video games are tested by day 1 public to get them out as quick as possible, because fans will keep buying, no matter the unfinished mess some of them are.
