I saw nothing from the game last night that has me concerned going forward.
Jarvis is pressing, but that kid has a shit load of talent. If he makes the team this year, he's earned it. Once he settles down, he'll put up a ton of points.
Our passing looks better right now than it did at times last year. Still a few times here and there where passes aren't connecting because positioning is off, but they can really zip it around the zone quickly. TDA is actually a bit surprising in how quickly and decisively he can move the puck to an open guy on the PP. I'd actually say our puck movement could be improved this year, especially once the team gels.
Drury plays with a very mean edge. He had some big hits last night, and given his frame... I'd say he probably needs another year of development, but boy are we fortunate to have him in the fold. He brings a physical aspect we've been desperate for.
They're clearly trying to get some chemistry there between Kotkaniemi and Turbo, and they have moments where it looks like they could be a very high productive line when it comes together. Don't really see anything to worry about, lots of potential there.
At the end of the day, it was still preseason. Little mistakes all over the place by both teams. Both defenses misplayed the puck often leading to breaks. Both goalies looked good, neither team really made them work too hard. But at the same time, we definitely still have the ability to just overwhelm a defense with our pressure when we get it going, so lots of positives to take away going into next week.
Oh, and my kid got to meet Stormy, which basically made her year. Went to bed cuddled up with her Stormy plush that I got during the playoffs that she never really took to. All in all, a great day (except for the college kids who moved down and sat behind us talking the entire time about what it was like to f*** girls from Meredith and calling the refs a bunch of f***ing p***yes the 2nd half of the game. Not great behind a 3 year old at a preseason game)
