Depends where you are coming from? It's not too difficult to get to Newark via train if you are close enough to a train line.

I live on Long Island and take the train into Penn Station in NY then get on the NJ Transit to Newark Penn Station. If you're coming from Manhattan, NY Penn to Newark Penn would be the commute. It's about a 15 minute train ride.
