Dougie probably could have gotten a good shot off there, and Hughes may have been expecting him to. That's why he fanned on it so ridiculously.

How are the Devils looking? Just got in from work. Has anyone noticed any changes to our overall defence structural play?

As I was thinking of the "non-locks" I forgot about Foote, Halonen, and Boqvist. I'll remove Tatar as a lock, so for 4 spots you have Tatar, Johnsson, Holtz, Zetterlund, Boqvist, Foote, Halonen, McLeod, Bastian, and Geertsen. What a logjam. Who makes an impact, even if they are not scoring? Who makes the team better?

Clearly Geersten.

I don't see any of Foote, Halonen, or Geertsen as options. Halonen did look good last night but there's too many guys. I'd put Thompson over those 3.

My brief notes from tonight:

Haula has more skill than i was expecting, even if ignoring the goal.

Holtz looks ready.

Nemec needs AHL time to get used to NA pro quickness and physicality.

I still don’t know if Palat’s game meshes with Hughes and Holtz, but his skating does not look out of place at all. I expected him to be slower.

Hiring Brunette will be the best move Fitz made this summer.

He looked good to me on the bit of PP he had. Confident handling and a nice stretch pass and good defensive coverage. No panic and he showed all the skills a defender needs. Good work from him.
100% agreed. I just wish Wood could've given him the puck again for a one-timer!

I think Palat makes sense there. I've always thought he belonged with Jack rather than Nico.
