Gaoltending is absolutely the difference in the game. Silovs with half a dozen highway robberies and Skinner as usual getting beat on any puck across. On first 5 shots 3 got by Skinner. Seesms like we've seen this movie before. Skinner is, and always has been awful against the Canucks.
Judging by the Canuck’s stupidly high shooting percentage every team is awful against them. 🤷‍♂️

Getting into good spots and just poor execution and poor decisions killing several good scoring chances that period. Would have liked Skinner to have the first one, but 2nd one was just too many guys puck watching and gravitating to it. Still like the look of Emberson and Stetcher in there. Puck retrievals look a lot better and break out passes much better with those two back there. Once they tighten things up over the first month of the season the back end should come together.
Josh Brown needs to be waived. Sign Dermott to be the number 7 and let’s go.

Team's playing pretty loose. Not worried about Skinner. They learned to play to his strengths for the most part in the playoffs last year. Forwards aren't even close to playing to the level they're capable of on the defensive side of things.

Well, clearly they aren’t taking pre-season seriously or else they’d have a winning record so you and the other whiners would stop constantly bitching and moaning, acting like these games are worth dying for.

If they don’t take the regular season seriously, then the whining here will be justifiably unbearable

No wonder the only “new” members we get here are the same recycled banned posters, toxic dump of a forums nowadays.

It’s a f***ing children’s game, some of you get too worked up about every little thing that goes wrong for the team.
At the end of the day record in pre season doesn’t matter. But getting blown out constantly is not a good thing and that is a worrying trend.

Have a feeling Pickard is going to mind the net more often than last season. Knoblauch proved he won't hesitate to make line up/goaltender changes.

Skinner does this every year, he's like Bowser or Donkey Kong in Mario Kart. The slowest starters in the game, always end up in last place the first half lap, but once they pick up momentum, they're like the Juggernaut, and eventually pass all its competition. Stu will come back to form, but it might take 15-20 games

What the Oilers learned is they have to outplay and outskill opponents badly and they actually got good at that. But its rowing upstream a lot of the time. The Nucks again have multiple goalies better than anything we have, at a spot that really matters.

First preseason game I watched and holy f*** that period was ugly. Hope they can just flip some magical switch once things start for real but not liking what I’m seeing so far.

All I’m asking is a semblance of giving a shit

Their last 3 preseasons have been dogshit which resulted in awful starts and playing catch up the rest of the year
Maybe they turn the switch for game 1, hopefully they do….but this preseason performance is subpar so far

Skins had zero chance on the 1st goal tbh. The 1st was a deflection off Hyman while being heavily screened. The 2nd was Hughes at the hashmarks...

Edit: on second look, Skins should've had the 2nd one.

Silovs been insanely good.

If the Canucks have over 1.02 5v5 PDO this year I'm done with the NHL. Refuse to watch a league where something so lame could happen.

We're not scoring AND we're giving up a ton of goals every single game. With a full lineup in. Against an adversary we want to establish against. This is preseason game in name only. You can tell the clubs are taking the game seriously.

No the Oilers learned how to limit poor coverage on cross ice passes, and learned how to clog up lanes and limit teams time on the attack with back pressure. They're not doing any of that right now, and I really don't expect to see much of that in general the first month of the season from pretty much every team. You know kind of like what happens every year at the start of the season since the NHL came into existence.

Too bad Draisaitl isnt taking is serious.

He decided to cover players that were already covered.

Hopefully by 2030 he understands the defensive side of the game.

If the end of the pre-season wasn't worth something - they wouldn't need it and could just start the regular season instead. As you say, a pulse would be nice at this point, but there's a good chance it means little (except to Canuck fans).

If you are wondering what I just said - its that the preseason is both meaningless and meaningful.

Yeah. Single mistakes don’t bug me. Losing doesn’t bug me. It’s the trends that the team is forming and showing right now that is worrying.
Lots of fans saying it’s only preseason who cares.
I guarentee the coaching staff doesn’t agree.
