Gus and Stanley make the team only because they would be gone on waivers.
Samberg had a pretty mistake free game and looked good on the PK.

This is going to sound sacrilegious, but I think Perfetti needs Wheeler or Connor. At least for now. They just 'get' it for some reason. Stastny probably would've been a good match too, but he's a traitor.

It isn't sacrilegious at all. Perfetti is still a 20 year old kid. He shouldn't be expected to carry a line at his age. He needs a player to do most of the driving while he gets comfortable and takes advantage of the space created. Line 2 is Dubois's line and he is going to have to play like he did most of last year for it to be successful.

Scheifele was the same at the same age. He didn't start producing until he was moved up with Wheeler as a rookie. Ditto with Conner, he counted on Blake and Mark to do the driving when he first broke in. Most rookies need support to succeed.

I think it may have just been that Colorado was highly interested in him. None of the players they picked up ring any bells lol
Galchenyuk was signed to a PTO (released about a week ago) by the Avs?

I'm kind of surprised the 4th line played 12 minutes tonight, didn't feel like they were on that much.

Connor - Scheifele - Ehlers ....... This line is set
Barron - Lowry - Appleton ....... This line is set
Perfetti - Dubois - Wheller ....... This line is set
Mäenalanen - Toninato- Gagner ...... my best guess

would love to see Hienola in at defense but not sure who comes out

Bottom 6 benefitted by all the PK time.

Good game. Empty rink. Funny drunk guys in our section though.

Samberg the safe pick; Heinola the upside pick; Stanley the wrong pick. My attitude to this whole season comes down to one Bowness decision. lol.

Melons Toninato Gagner fourth line??

Samberg had a pretty mistake free game and looked good on the PK.

Samberg also did absolutely nothing to prove why he should get a spot on the dress roster. He has the defensive deficiencies of Heinola without the offensive upside.

He kills penalties a hell of a lot better than either Stanley or Heinola.
Did you stop watching after the first???

Average shift and xGF%

Scheifele 46s 57.2 xGF%
Connor 51s 59.1 xGF%
Ehlers 48s 58.4 xGF%

Compare that to their firs game where the shift lengths were in the high 50's and the xGF% was in the low 20's for all 3.

No one under 7 minutes. Impressive!

Would be interesting to see a few games from last year broken down like this. Would be very telling.

I see Dennis Cholowski was waived, so I don't see why the Jets should be afraid to waive Stanley because they think a team will claim him. I know they aren't going to do this, but being afraid of some guys getting claimed when across the league there are similar players getting cut too.

Cholowski 20th overall 2016
115 games 30pts

Stanley 18th overall 2016
95 games played 17pts

Hey Gus has stayed heathy thru the preseason unfortunately he hasn't done much to warrant a spot on the roster
I didn't watch the game but the stat line looks impressive enough. +1, couple of hits, couple of blocks, and 60% on the draw vs. some Calgary regulars.

I noticed the Jets are going with 3 PK units this year, and Connor isn't on them. I like this as a way to get everyone involved, manage ice time better. In the games I saw Gustafsson has been a standout on the PK. That should be his bread and butter meal ticket to the NHL.

How was Barron in this respect?

Glad the coach is going with a Top Gun line. I think that's going to be the biggest change. Best players leading the charge.

For his first action in preseason I thought Barron played well, as for Gus I just expect more than what he has shown maybe I'm expecting too much.

Guy is just too amped all the time. He doesn't have to be shouting at the edge of his breath for a dump in or a breakout pass like its an odd man rush in overtime of the playoffs.
Yeah, I find it hard to follow the play when he’s on the call. Maybe it’s just me.

Some team will pick up Stanley just because of his size. Cant teach that.
