And listen, everyone acknowledges what a shitshow it was here with Ruff last season. You have to give Keefe some rope to sort it out.

I said this the other night v the Caps, it gives a lot of vibes Lemaire's return in 2010/2011 where he was visibly distraught on how they defended when he first returned v to when they were making that late run for playoffs that year.

They SHOULD be good. They have all the tools. I'm certainly optimistic overall, just got kinda down tonight lol. I know it'll take time to adjust. I also know preseason means squat.

I think there’s enough reasons to be optimistic and question marks to not take a stand either way. Obviously the optimistic marks are all well known. The question marks are Jack’s health, will Luke’s should be like Jack’s from last year, Markstrom’s a very on and off goalie and he was on last year, how is Mercer going to be, can Siegs bounce back, how is Pesce outside of the perfect defensive environment and coming off an injury, the offensive depth and especially center depth is extremely thin. There’s more than enough reasons for them to suck again.

I'm so glad we don't know Rogalski's contract status.

Can you imagine if somehow his contract was up this past offseason, and they RE-SIGNED him in June? Like gave him a NEW DEAL that starts THIS YEAR?

They probably didn't. Maybe he and all the original Ruff staff got re-upped along with Ruff a year ago. So maybe this is year one of a new deal for him, but maybe it was signed a year ago? Or maybe his deal was not tied in any way with Ruff's contracts.
I could picture them canning Fitz and promoting Fletcher lmao

This isn't preseason over reaction, Rogalski is a f***ing cancer that should've been lanced, and keeping Allen over a younger and better goalie was stupid.

I don't think so.

I still think Marty is closer to the front of the line than Fletcher. Fletcher could potentially be an interim if they do a repeat of the mid-season GM change that they did in 2020, but this time I don't think the interim becomes the perma-GM in the case that the interim is Fletcher.

i know preseason doesn’t matter but they’ve look like complete ass in every game. i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t a little concerned

The guys that matter looked good in the first game. Since then it’s been like just Casey, Halonen, Labanc, and Misyul I’ve liked

This division is also aggressively mid to the point where them getting slightly back on track would be an easy playoffs. I don't think the Rangers/Canes will be as dominant as last year, the Flyers have a shooter tutor in net even though the Michkov add is obviously huge for their offense that struggled late last year, Islanders might have a goalie who's career might be finished and they have an older roster. Caps/Pens are just running the paces at this point. I think the disappointment for this team also stems from that as well.

I'll say that most of the mistakes that led to goals this preseason were made by AHL guys or guys who won't make the team.
