I had Casey ahead of Nemec in my final 2022 rankings, and tonight did nothing to dissuade me of that opinion. That's not a knock on Nemec, but Casey is going to be a special player IMO.

Kid really played great in both ends. Responsbile, physical game. Great neutral zone gaps, some excellent head man passes and plays from the point.

Whenever he was on the ice I felt comfortable nothing bad was gonna happen.

The other team was icing more than like 3-4 regulars. Talent can sometimes overcome stuff like that. They also had two less penalties.

I think Casey got pushed around quite a bit tonight but his skill and his smarts are SO evident. Only question with him is how high his ceiling is.

Yeah I can see that. Once he gets back to speed in a few games (as most guys will) he'll be fine. It happens. He's a very cerebral and calm player.

I still lean Nemec overall, but man do I love Casey. We're so lucky to have those 2 guys, from the same draft nonetheless. Future is bright!

As to the Comets players, how many times in the last 2 seasons have I posted they can't score, miss the net, flub soft shots on net, are slow, very poor shot selection, and all this with s**t centers. Last night all I read was how bad Schmelzer was. How many would guess he was THE TEAM'S TOP POINT GETTER?
