Anyway .. Hockey is back and time to get excited. I will be watching the game and trying to add my observations during and after. Heads up ... and edible has been consumed. So ... just keep that in mind ..

I am watching on Prime. Looks fine to me.

Yeah. Goyette may be closer to the NHL than we think. This AHL season will be interesting.

And he drove to the net as well. I am liking it so far. Not so much the score, but meh, its preaseason.

Another thing I can already notice is the movement in the offensive zone. It's a lot better. They are not just waiting for a pass.

Definitely. Offensively, things look really nice.

Eye test tells me that Dragicevic has been on the ice for 2 goals against and he has lost his man both times.

Well .. he has not looked the best but I think the goals were more to do with leaving the Flames skaters open in front of the net.

Defense was not good for sure

Another couple of observations.

Beniers has definitely looked stronger. You can tell he worked on his body this off-season.

Catton looks a lot more confident than I had expected. The skill is evident and he is good at avoiding hits.

The only takeaways I am taking from pre-season are specific to systems and individual performances. I don't really care about the result as much but more about seeing the change in systems and how ready the prospects are.

Yep. I was thinking of that too but its pre-season. New coach/system, lots of kids. I would be concerned about Gru IF we didn't have Daccord around.

I read that Gru gets periods 1 and 2. Stetzka comes in period 3 I believe. I expect them to mix lines throughout the game.
