Why did they extend Hathaway and Seeler? This game gave you a good idea why.

When Deslauriers is one of your better looking forwards, well . . .
Lyksell and Eklind showed me nothing, Richard is fast but isn't that skillful and isn't a forechecker like Poehling. Rizzo didn't show much either.
Brink was pretty good, but not good enough to be assured a job.
Desnoyers looks quicker than last year.
Gaucher is an AHL body.
Couts looks healthy, played like a guy with a guaranteed job.

Attard can't play defense, that's why Risto is the 3RHD, the difference between the two was night and day. Same size, but Risto can skate and has a clue.
There's a reason Belpedio is in the AHL.
Bonk was MIA in the 1st period but played better as the game went along.
McDonald was pretty much MIA.
Zamula was decent.

Makineimi didn't embarrass himself, which puts him ahead of Peterson.
Kolosov would be the starter in LHV if he came over, Peterson is just here b/c they didn't want to buy him out after retaining last year and buying out Atkinson.

Thought
No it didn't. You can sign there type to 1/2 year deals. Not 3/4. Defedn to the end.

Also speaks volumes about the Flyers drafting/development, that you like, seeing they have no one to take their spot. Sad and Embarrassing.

Doesn't seem like your boy Eklind isn't getting any long look like you claimed. Played less than 14 minutes.

Desnoyers stinks as he is another one they are not giving a look to as you claim. When Seeler was 26 did you ever say there is a reason why he is in the AHL?

Kolosov should be the starter however we both know that is not set in stone with cement head as coach.

I can't join you on that sir, liv is hot and feminine, don't want ladies who look like they'd happily throw fisticuffs with me lmao
just drop dead gorgeous.

The second half of last season, during a PO push,
Deslauriers played 21 games at 6:52, Brink and Lycksell played over him.
Deslauriers was actually effective in that role, with fresh legs and limited minutes.

Deslauriers definitely was not effective, and he played half the games. That's a lot. More than each of the two listed, despite them both being better players.

You really don't have to defend everything they do. Especially when you're going to turn your back on it the second it's necessary to defend the next regime.

How anyone can say ND was effective is well....I do not have a word for it.

That wasn't a good game, but this Anthony Richard guy has some god damn wheels. Seems like he would be a solid 4th liner with that speed. He's produced in the NHL ok considering how many games/ice time he gets....seems like a better choice than boxing mitts.

What were the lines?
Couts was with Foerster and Richard (super speedy guy who didn't bring much else).

Laughton was with Rizzo and Brink.

The other two lines were unnoticeable. I think it was Gaucher with Desnoyers and Deslauriers, and Poehling with Lycksell and Eklind. Could have those lines completely wrong, but they collectively did absolutely nothing.

D pairs were Zamula-Risto, McDonald-Bonk, and Belpedio-Attard.

Minor positive was PP zone control put on by Foerster, Brink, and Zamula. Granted it was held mostly to the perimeter and didn't yield any goals, they recovered and moved the puck around with notable confidence, poise, and ability.

Sheer nonsense. Brink was “pretty good” in a shit show back to back, after being fantastic the night before. He’s a top 9 player, end of discussion.
I thought preseason games didn't matter.

He was highly inconsistent last year, needs to show more to win a top 9 job.
Farabee - Couts - TK
Tippett - Foerster - Michkov
Cates - Laughton - Foerster
??? - Poehling - Hathaway

To win top 9 has to push Cates/Foerster to 4th line.
Foerster and Cates were better last season.

They matter in context. So, very little in a checked box way. Brink has an NHL season of being a top 9 player, although he faded late, with an off-season of training. If he looked like Bobby Stink in preseason, he still merits top 9 usage. However, you admitted Brink has looked good while saying he’s not a shoo-in. That’s not terribly cohesive.

“Deslauriers shouldn’t be the 13th forward and should play over Brink, while bumping up Cates.” That’s the logical conclusion to not being assured the job.

No, with Cates and Foerster you have 12 forwards. Question is who plays on the fourth line.
Deslauriers is #13, I'll bet he doesn't get into more than 30 games, mostly on the road, and primarily against teams like the Rangers (Rempe), Islanders, etc.

The value of fighting isn't intimidation, it's to take the other team's asshole off the ice for 15 minutes a time (5 for fighting, 10 minute game misconduct).

Crippling your roster to play afraid? Seems like establishing a culture of cowardice.

Easy solution, trade Hathaway and Laughton. They shouldn't be here anyway. Foerster and Brink now effortlessly fit. Cates too. That's what a team building for Michkov's prime would do. Team isn't rebuilding though. They're going for it now. Future development means nothing to them.

First see if Cates can handle center.

He was elite defensively two years ago but struggled to create offense.
We already have Poehling.

Now they played Cates at center the first exhibition game, so they may be thinking about it.
He looked good with Foerster and Brink. But against minor league opposition.

My guess is many will not even engage with ND at this point.

why do you want the other teams asshole off the ice if he isnt that good? Wouldn't you want him on the ice to take advantage of said asshole?

That’s exactly how it should be done.Score while the goon is on the ice and you put them at a disadvantage. Let them have to shorten their bench
