The lineup feels like Kap just being lightyears ahead of everyone else, carefully watching Poulin/Legare, and everyone else is AHL caliber--at best.

I keep forgetting Marino is playing. Not great.

I can already tell I won’t be watching many games without Sid and G…Sully’s system is so goddamn boring and we don’t have a Cole Caufield…Poulin and Legare can’t overcome the intensely dull coaching….

Well. it works so.

Sullivan's ability to win with AHL call ups when Malkin or Crosby are out speaks for its self.

This game wouldn't even be close if Tankov were playing.

You wonder how long the Pens will let him languish there before unleashing him on the NHL.

Back to reality, I noticed Bellerive a few times, but I can't see him making it out of WBS barring an ungodly number of injuries, even by Pens' standards. I like watching Lee skate, but haven't really seen him much in the defensive end. I did see him turn it over on an outlet pass and saw him get muscled off against the boards in the o-zone, so there's that.

hockey’s about entertainment too…it’s going to be hard to decide who has the most boring team this season between the Pens and Steelers

I think the Pens will be less Puke-inducing. They went full firewagon for a couple rushes in the second period and I thought Sully was going to come out on the ice and go full Herb-Brooks-after-the-Norway-tie.

Outside of the big prospects, I think Lee, Almedia and Drozg look decent.

I think the best thing I've seen from Poulin is that he doesn't look uncomfortable playing with NHL talent. He's worked well with Kap. Hasn't capitalized on any of the myriad of chances Kap's feeding him, but he's not like deer in the headlights out there. No real hesitation.

Legare's shown some flashes of speed, which is unexpected. Doesn't seem afraid to shoot and is creating on his own most of the time.

Lee's confident along the blueline. Doesn't shy away from getting off a shot, and has the ability to get pucks through to the net, which is a plus.

There's not really anyone else that's emerged from the primordial soup of ECHL/AHL fodder. I'd have liked POJ to show a bit more thus far. Marino and Jarry--two NHL locks--have not looked anywhere near as good or confident as Kap. Guys like Boyle and E-Rod are what they are. Lafferty is still a donkey brain. Friedman and Riikola are meh. Lindberg's been solid through the ~10 minutes--looks really fast.

And that's about all I give a shit about a pre-season game. G'night.

I haven't paid attention to the defensive nuances of Almedia's game, but I don't see anything that stands out, but frankly I wasn't watching all that closely.

It's hard to get too excited one way or the other about playing against other junior/AHL fodder. I'm not sure how much you can discern about NHL prospects unless someone is clearly head and shoulders above everyone else.
