Turning GDTs into PGTs would be a disaster.

Also, while 1,000 post limits may not be a necessity anymore, threads should still be rotated as they get stale and off topic. There also should be an established procedure on this, because when threads are allowed to be restarted and by who is currently applied very arbitrarily.

I'd support the pre-game becoming the GDT (just call it the Game Thread), but shut it down about 5 mins after the conclusion. IMO it gets closed a little too quickly

What about the opposite, allowing PGTs to become GDTs. I don’t see the point you raise happening in that scenario, and would cut down on thread bloating.
