The US while playing in Europe:

2013 (in Russia) - 1st - Gold
2014 (in Sweden) - 5th
2016 (in Finland) - 3rd - Bronze
2020 (in Czechia) - 6th

Canada has won one less bronze medal than them, but they have missed the SF twice.
Fair enough. :)

No more fighting, boys. Be kind to each other and make predictions. :)
Who is fighting? They have some which are now prehistoric viewpoints that are in error and they are being corrected, we are all still friends.

There is nothing wrong with everyone being on the same page in reality, and the reality is that Canada is very successful playing in europe, dont believe me? Go look at the results.

Here are the tourneys from 2013 to 2023. The most recent ones.

Canada has 5 golds. 1 in Europe (20%) and 4 in Canada/Buffalo (80%)

Canada has not medalled in 3 of the 4 Euro tourneys above (Russia, Sweden and Finland) - 75% without a medal.
Canada has not medalled in 1 of the 7 NA tourneys above. - 14%

I don't think it's cherry picking or even crazy to suggest that Canada does better in NA then Europe using the most recent history available.

The only thing that messes up the numbers is that it isn't an even split of Euro tourneys vs Canadian ones.

I was beginning to lose hope you wouldnt arrive.

Dont speak too soon........we managed to pay off the refs and silence the european crowd last time this tournament was in europe, we even pulled the same thing off in kicking you guys out of the tournament on your home soil on the way to gold this past summer.

Our reach is long

I did.lol 2013 to 2023. Europe has not been kind to Canada at all. 1 gold and 3 donuts. NA has been very good to Canada - 4 golds and several bronzes and silver.

So its not possible that maybe just maybe there were better teams those years we have lost in the past 5 tourneys in europe?

For gods sake cb......give other teams some credit.

Yeah.....2013 to 2023, hardly comprehensive enough to make a blanket statement such as.......we all know canada struggles in europe. You are cherry picking again. Now if you want to say european teams struggle when playing in north america then we can talk because european teams would give their left nut to have a track record playing in NA that Canada has playing in europe.

The argument that Canada terribly struggles playing in europe is just bogus when you look at tbe results, cripes.....we even won the olympic gold best on best the last time it was played in Russia.

Cmon CB.......not like you to not be reasonable.

We'll have to agree to disagree if you don't think the most recent 11 tournaments aren't a good sample size.

Of course i will disagree........ive shown why very clearly how a statement like he made is old cold war era thinking.

We have simply won too f***ing much there for that dinosaur belief to have any weight in 2023.

Cold war was not from 2013 to 2023.

You have 1 medal in Europe in the last decade. That is not a dinosaur belief. That is the most recent results.

Using tourneys before 2013 is actually cherry picking. I could make a great post on how the Czechs are still a top hockey nation. We were killing it everywhere in 2000.lol However, using the 10 most recent years, we are shit with nothing to show.

But we dont have to look to 2000 to say we are killing it CB......we won the last tournament at the wjc in europe and just won the senior tournament at the whc and have been the gold or silver winner there for like the last 6 years.
The czechs need to go back to the year 2000 to prove they are doing well?.....that is sort of your guys problem
It definitly isnt ours, lol. We are the current holder of both those belts.

Which brings us back to the original point.......what struggles? We are golden.

Our struggles seem to be in your imagination. But Something tells me you wouldnt mind our struggles.

His claim is bogus, period, seems like a nice guy.........but clearly off base.

thats a moot point. Finland proved it twice winning withouth best players. And the one time we had all it was slaughter

Ah, who cares? You guys need to be in europe to win,all those tournaments in NA and youve only won it once here.

You require home court advantage.

Yes. That is one of the unfair advantages. We hosted tournee twice last 20 years and Canada what 11 times. Big advantage loss but nobodys complaining.

One sad thing is I will never see Finland play best on best Olympic hockey on home surface it won't happen on my lifetime

Just not good enough to win over here like canada does on a regular basis with the unfair advantages they face on a yearly basis at the whc in europe.

Its the lot of the inferior.

I have a question: If Russia and Belarus come back one day; Would it make sense to have 12 teams instead of 10 in this U20 championship in the future?

They won't be back anytime soon.

but in answer to your question, NO! That would be 1 extra game for a total of 8 in a tournament that runs from Dec 26 to Jan 5. 8 games in 10 days? It won't happen. and the tournament won't be extended to run over 12 days.

10 teams 7 games over 10 days is perfect.

Merry Christmas.

Canada may not have the home crowd or refereeing, but apparently we did bring our home schedule maker.

Sweden, as host, gets to set the tournament schedule, yet they play their biggest game of the preliminary round against a rested Canada, while Sweden enters that game in the second half of a back-to-back.

What the hell is Sweden doing?
