Gold: Canada
Silver: Czechs
Bronze: Sweden
4th: Switzerland

Relegated: Kazakstan and Slovenia.

What is your guys take?

For anyone putting Sweden in the finals. STOP. Canada and Czechs are too strong. Canada with Crosby, Mackinnon. Czechs with almost same Team as last year when they won gold and crushed Sweden with 7-3 in the semifinals. There is no chance Sweden is winning against the 2 powerhouses in semifinals. Nothing wrong with bronze.

Canada if the Mack rumour is true.
USA as swayman is amazing and I love tage
Sweden has a quality squad but playing at home is more curse than blessing

I do think any of Czechs Finn's and Swiss could disrupt this though. I do like the Czech squad a lot to be honest.

Bonus would be my Oilers eliminating Vegas and my Czechs getting Hertl as our C position is in trouble. our D is Shakey too.lol

Usa never succeed in this tournament. Dont count on them.

Why would not Czechs be a contender? Almost same squad as last year when they won gold.
I agree but US are sending a great squad and they have to break this senior curse at some point. Clearly a great hockey nation with some weird luck.

Czechs are similar to last year. But I didn't expect them to win last year.lol I am aware we are a tier below the 'big 5'. With Crosby/MacK coming it really changed the dynamic. plus, I get the feeling more Nuck's are coming now that those 2 are going. Makar and Blackwood and I say cancel the tournament and give them their gold.lol

I'd be thrilled with a quarter win and a chance at medals. And I still celelbrate last year like it was yesterday.lmao Pragano is an all time fav for me. Not a fluke, not bullshit, we just earned that one by running the table.

A better hockey answer.. last year we had better C's.. we had Tomasek, Zacha and Kampf taking draws. That is damn good. Our 1C is Sedlak (who I love) and then maybe Spacek?

Pasta and Necas should be fun in round robin. Very excited to see Klapka! Curious how that goes becuase we are split - I think top 6 and talented, many think bottom 6 big body and net front presence.

1. Canada
2. Sweden
3. USA
4. Finland

Relegation Slovakia vs Hungary

I wouldn't be surprised if the USA made it to the bronze medal game, but unless we've changed our general attitude about bronze medal games at the senior level, the players would probably rather go take a dump than play in it, and that'll show on the ice resulting in a loss.

Based on squads it should be a Canada - Sweden final. But it's a best of 1 tournament so anything could happen.

Turned out to be quite the stacked tournament - Both Sid and Nathan in the tournament certainly made this one of the more high profile tournaments in recent memory

Gold: Canada
Silver: Czech
Bronze: USA
4th place: Sweden
Relegated: Slovenia, Kazaks

Finland has won before with basically no NHLers, against Ovechkin's and such. But this time it will be different. I feel like the concencus here is that we're not going far. No trust in the coach. Somehow nothing works. The Jalonen reign is over and we're, for now back to mediocrity.

I feel like nobody expects anything out of Slovakia, but I personally feel like Slovakia & Germany both will significantly outperform their expecations.

Usa has plenty of what I consider underperforming winners in NHL, and this could very well be the year they win. But it's easier to bet against them.

Those Slovak talking about relegation are classic emotiononal outburts when something is not going the way they wanted, so they become extremely negative bordeline toxic with they predictions and the way they talk about a team and everything that surraunds it.

Games againts France, Slovenia and Austria should be for 9 points based on paper qualities of rosters, Latvia too but that game is always tight, so losing is not something unexpected.

QF is realistic, but i would not be suprised if we finnished 5th in the group stage.

My mildly spicy predictions:

Group A
1. Canada
2. Sweden
3. Finland
4. Latvia
5. Slovakia
6. Austria
7. France
8. Slovenia

Group B
1. United States
2. Switzerland
3. Czechia
4. Germany
5. Norway
6. Denmark
7. Hungary
8. Kazakhstan

Playoffs
Canada v Germany
Switzerland v Finland
Sweden v Czechia
United States
v Latvia
--
Canada v Finland
United States v Czechia

Canada v Czechia

The swiss had kinda good games the last few days (8:2 vs the finland, 5:3 the Czechs) and if they
got the reinforcments from the NHL in players like FIALA, HISCHIER, MEIER and MOSER they will have a very good chance to play for the medals for sure.

Otherwise on paper of course obviously Canada and Sweden

Lost to Sweden thought

It would be of course peak Switzerland to fluff their lines when they're favourites against a traditional big-5 nation, after having a good group stage.

With the NHL addons it's plausible they could take the #1 spot in group B, it's quite common to see the NA sides start the group in party-mode before executing down the stretch only when they need to.
