Who’s going to rise to the occasion once the playoffs begin and become your unexpected hero? The kind of player who steps up, chips in with clutch goals, and earns cult hero status during your run to the Stanley Cup.

Think Fernando Pisani in the 2006 playoffs or Ruslan Fedotenko in 2004… you get the idea.

Hills 24 goals, making up for his shit Save% and GAA :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

For Toronto: Their goalies. Woll and Stolarz both look better than any goalie Toronto has had in recent memory for a playoff run. Should be great to see one (or both) of them establish themselves around the league.

I'll also mention Carlo as an unsung hero for Toronto. He's made Morgan Rielly look alive again since the trade. If he can keep holding him up, then he'll definitely be an unsung hero.

For the Leafs, I'll say Robertson.
Yeah tiny perimeter skill guys who have no track record for success always break through at this time of year....

You obviously were taking a leaf and McMann is right there for the choosing and you take the midget. Classic. I actually think Mcmann is a good choice for this.

I could see Jackson Blake have a big playoffs. Carolina kinda flying under the radar here. (Not for analytics nerds but hockey media in general. Subban ranked them as the 8th best team in the east).

Mason Marchment, Alex Lafferier, Jake Neighbours, Protos (if healthy).

Are a few other guys I could see doing it.

Jeannot if he's back, Turcotte if he's not.

Kings 4th line has been monstrous since it was put together and Tanner Jeannot was having the game of his life before being unfortunately injured...They've helped tip the scales on many nights and in the playoffs they'll feast on the chaos in front of the net.

Morgan Barron of the Jets.

dude has been fire all season...not a lot of points..but He just gets it done. almost never makes a mistake. Off the glass and out, hit the red line and dump it deep, forecheck, backcheck, zone entry zone exit....

and now? the scoring is coming on.

he's the type of depth guy who scores the game 7 OT winner.

Ridly Greig. Has settled nicely into a shut down role this season and has come on strong down the stretch. Has always reminded me of JG Pageau in ways, and could see him having a similar impact in the post season.
