Who do you have the broom out for in round one? 🧹

List all types of sweeps. Traditional, Gentlemen’s sweep, and everyone’s favourite the Reverse sweep.

Am I too francophone to know what a Gentlemen's sweep is? Do I even want to know?
It's simply a team, usually with home ice advantage winning the first three games, being up 3-0, then the other team wins game 4, before having the series end in game 5. Basically a sweep because of how cleanly a team wins 4-1 but it's a "Gentleman's sweep" because the other team gets to at least win one and avoid the humiliation of a regular sweep.

On paper, VGK might sweep MN, but I don't see MN not getting at least one win. They are a team that doesn't give up, and have had a lot of clutch last minute goals this year.

Looking at basic, but telling stats like GF/GA, abd special teams, VGK are a far superior team. At least MN appears to be somewhat healthy, though i suspect that Rossi is one of the walking wounded.

The more you know. Thanks!

Sweeps have always struck me as comparatively rare. When they do happen, it also seems like it's often the case that it's not necessarily a team you expected to sweep their opponents. Even if one team clearly outclasses the other, you can usually count on the outclassed team managing to win at least one game before being eliminated.

I will therefore hedge my bet on nobody getting swept in the first round.
