Its a a foregone conclusion that the Canucks are trading the 15th overall pick. They've done everything but say so without actually saying so.

1. Rutherford, who is an open book, expressed that that Canucks may not be active on Free Agency because they might not have cap left by July 1. This despite the Canucks having over 13 mil of cap space as of right now. (Lots of speculation that a trade is already done and they are just waiting to announce and finalize)

2. Canucks upper management (Rutherford and Allvin) did not bother to attend the Draft Combine. Though their scouting team and AGMs attended, the 2 decision makers were not present. This leading to further speculation that the 15thoverall pick is all but traded.


Whats your prediction on a where the 15th overall gets traded to? Maybe as part of the package deal.

The favorite money right now is the 15th + gets traded for Marco Rossi. I'm not sold on it....

First of all…I can buy them taking whatever the best offer is for Byram and figuring out the rest later. Because they clearly don’t want the player and aren’t paying him.

But…Peterka isn’t Byram. And unless they have a same day deal in place to flip picks for a player…Kevyn Adams can’t move JJ Peterka for futures in his sixth offseason after failing five years in a row. There’s no way to sell it. And if he would do that for any players they value…Cozens and Mittelstadt wouldn’t have been flipped for NHL players at the deadline of all times.

Future packages for a player they won’t pay in Byram…sure if they can’t get anything else. He has to go before arbitration.

Future packages for an RFA with no arbitration rights they like? I give it a zero percent chance of happening. He can sit and mope for two years before they have to give a shit what he thinks.

Oh, I can totally see him flipping JJ for futures and falling in on the whole efficient and economic bit - and his "sustainable success" schtick that sounds like pandering to the idea of perpetual futures.

This draft is weak after thr top 15. Id take future years picks instead because it can be used as trade bait in future deals.

Say they trade byram, 9OA, and a prospect/Quinn for these 2 players. Then they don't need more roster players and instead trade Peterka for future picks and prospects

I don’t know how effective a Pettersson, Rossi and Chytil C lineup is but this seems a move Vancouver would do.

Rossi seems to be too undersized and then his back up is an injury prone Chytil. I rather they trade for Tuch even if he is a bit older than Rossi, I feel he can be a great 2nd line center.

Its so stupid, reminds me of the Forsling deal that got us a journey man D that played a handful of game for us which was a Benning special. Then we have moronic trade proposals involving the trade of Wilander. These are the type of trades that makes Canucks look like joke. Unless Wilander was traded for some high end, young centerman then it would be completely stupid to trade him.
