He is not going anywhere, unless Quick wants out and a team wants to take a HUGE chance on him.

Making too much money for too long.

Kings are stuck with Quick unless by some miracle he retires or gets hurt and ends up on LTIR.

At this point he's probably an AHL caliber goaltender making $6m a year for another 4 years. What can they do other than keep him on as the backup for another year or two then maybe buy-out?

This is a really terrible way for it to end for one of the all-time greats in franchise history.

I don't get this board sometimes. Aren't we tanking? Who gives a shit if Quick doesn't play well? Doesn't that play into the hand we want? They got their ass beat. So what. This season has already been written off by management. They said as much when they hired TM. He's here for the rebuild. Well, rebuilds involve being really bad and Quick's at the end of his career so who cares if he's bad or not? Unless he wants out.

I predict he makes 7 million dollars...but that's ok...he was underpaid for winning 2 Stanley Cups here. Bottom line...no matter what, he can't play this poorly and play the majority of games.
The D sucks, but with Campbell or Petersen, it's 5-2 and not 8-2. Based on 1+ year of seeing all 3 of them, with the same shtttt perfrmances on the ice.

No one is going to trade for Quick, so he will stay on the team. And honestly, we're not hurting for cap space, so it's fine. Our defense is a much bigger issue at the moment. If by the time our defense is better than literally worst in the league, Quick can provide us with 20 games a year of average goaltending, we'll be in decent shape. I imagine we'll see Campbell traded at some point, but who knows.

I think they would like to see what they have in Cal and it's just difficult because they would have to basically have a $6m a year #3 goaltender.

Right now this is like when the last rebuild started and the Kings correctly pegged Quick as the guy, fortunately then Dan Cloutier didn't have 4 years left on his contract and blocking him from icetime. Right now there is no upside at all to Quick and it's likely hurting the development of Cal. Who at 25 years old should not still be in the AHL. The goaltending duo should be Cal and Campbell, but unfortunately it probably never will be.

Then you buy him out or pay him the 6 mil to sit in the press box. Or you play him. There is no good option for the Kings. He's literally untradeable. Maybe they can say he developed an allergy to his equipment and put him on LTIR.

Quick's play will kill any chance the Kings will stay in the chase. McLellan has the tough job of easing Quick into a back-up role this season.

Either Campbell or Quick goes. Petersen's contract pretty much guaranteed that. Quick is quickly becoming untradable. The Kings have three options:
1. Trade Campbell
2. Buyout Quick in 2020
3. Get Quick to retire in 2020

My best guess is one of option 2 or option 3. The buyout actual cost is only $1,000,000 per year for Quick, but the cap hit is ugly for three seasons. Best for the team is option 3, but Quick is a proud guy and may not go that route. Probably option 2 and just live with the cap hit.

Nothing should change imo.

Split start Quick and Campbell 50/50 thru the 1st 20 games. If things continue as they have the last year or so, start Campbell 2/3 of the games for the remainder of the season.

If Campbell plays well, hopefully Carolina or another team trades for him.

Then do the same thing with Petersen. (Ease him in to the starting role, not trade him).

Quick can be an expensive backup. We wont need cap space for the next few years anyways.

Play Campbell and start Quick every 3 or 4 games. See if his game comes around and shop him at the TDL. If no one bites (very likely) then buy him out this summer. We'l have around 22 million in cap space next summer including the Quick and Dion buy outs.. Peterson\Campbell to start 2020 season.

Yeah, Quick's going nowhere, and the people rooting for him to fail in favor of rooting for the shiny new toy with similar issues should probably start cheering him on because that's the only way he'll have a ticket out of town.

He's going to get a chance to work his way out of it, just like the rest of the team, including Campbell.

Expensive backup/AHLer? Who cares? What are we spending cap on?

Canucks fan coming in peace. Half those options are unrealistic. Kings can’t release him, he’s not going to retire and forego 5.8Mx4, no ones gonna trade for him. You’re only hope is you ltiretire him or let him find his game in the ahl
no shit

the point of a poll is to have options. Like a car. You don't get a stripped model , you get power seats and shit. Even if you aren't going to use them

I voted for LTIR, but not saying the Kings are gonna pull a Hossa here, but somewhere in the season, he’s going to get hurt and Peterson will be brought up.
If he doesn’t get hurt, he’ll finish out the season in LA.

Quick goes nowhere... To much Money, to old, to many injuries, to inconsistent
Campbell's stock plummets because our defense is awful
Petersen becomes 1A after we move Campbell at the TDL
