Canada vs Slovakia - I don't think Slovakia wins. Yes, they beat the US, which I enjoyed, but still there's a very big chance that they lose.

Germany vs Switzerland - I really don't know about this one. Switzerland looks strong, but they tend to be nervous in the QF and it affects their performance (their game vs Germany last year, and USA the year before), and get eliminated.

They finally hired a mental trainer this year, hopefully he is useful and they come hungry for revenge

If not, Fischer will be in a very bad position

I can only speak for myself but yeah, all those quarter disapearence and some very weird choices led to this

And to ban our most promising young D from olympics and WHC at home because he wasn't at the WJC this year is nothing but ridiculous

Crazy to think how many dislike him. Will be hugely missed if we go back to change some old foreign manager every 2 years.

Banning Bichsel is harsh and without any insight, I don't understand it too. But as much as you hate him there isn't one nation that brings as many of their stars to join the NT as us. That says a lot about his methods. The team spirit is great and the quarter-collapse surely can't just be pinned on Fischer alone.
Yes, if we falter again against GER, his time is probably over.
But keep in mind that beating big nations regularly and easily qualify for QF wasn't always our minimum standard.
 
Finland always makes me nervous, ditto when Sweden has had a cakewalk through the RR. On paper Sweden is superior but it's played on the ice and Finland has a history of beating Sweden on sheer willpower alone.

The "guys are coming from nhl because of him" narrative is ridiculous, these guys come because they want to, not because Fischer is acting like a moron ready to ban anyone who don't act the way he wants.

And yeah it's easy to say "we are just the little Switzerland so to past the quarter is pretty much a miracle" and it's exactly the point of view that we'll prevent us to really grow.

But right now I don't really care about him, I just want this team to finally get sucess

It's not a narrative, it's a fact.
If you think it's just because our stars are more loyal and better people than the rest of europe, I guess you weren't into hockey a few years ago.
It was pretty common to invent any injury to not getting selected, even for NLA players, not just NHLers.

You think banning an uninterested junior is a scandal? Ever heard of Von Arx, Jenni, Riesen? Yeah, how i wish back those days full of harmony!

No one said making QF is a miracle. Beating Canada or Czech regularly is great and should be more appreciated. You don't need to look any further than u20 or recent NHL drafts to realize that we are much closer to SVK and GER in terms of talent depth than FIN or CZE.

Qualifying for QF's regularly is not a given, it just shows how spoiled some of our fans are. The range of 5-8 which is exactly where we belong, we are not a top 4 nation in this hockey world, sorry to break this to you.

It's not about being better people but about them being proud to represent a small country which has his best generation of player ever

Yeah the choice about Bichsel is ridiculous, Fiala did the same and only get banned 1 year so no coherence about this

And asking for a quarter win against Germany and not making weird choice over and over again is not the same as saying we are a top 4 team, I haven't say anything like that.

There is a big difference between saying we should win a quarter given the roaster on the WHC and saying that we are, in general, a top 4 nation in term of depth.

And let's not talk about Olympics result...

But yeah, like always, there is nothing but excuses for him.

My guess is that he won't survive if we don't win tomorrow.

Wait so I was wrong about him? Well I don't know him much, but he seems like a nice guy. But maybe not as nice as I thought. At least he's cute lol.

Fiala did the same once, not twice like Bichsel. And as you see, Fiala has been banned and is now here and proudly representing a team coached by this fraud Fischer.
And Fiala has had his own little discipline history, but giving some credit for getting the best out of him would be ridiculous I know...

I agree about Fischer, it's probably over for him if we lose tomorrow.
Not saying he's the Messiah, just don't understand the hate, that's all.

Be prepared for a disappointment if the next manager won't mystically put this nation on a level with Sweden or Finland, despite them producing 10x more hockey talents.

Yeah it's just the 3rd quarter against a "less stacked" Germany but asking for one win is the same as saying we should have the sucess of a top 4 nation :laugh:
 
Oh dear, what did I do? I didn't want to ignite any torches and pitchfork moments. I just had the impression, that I saw a lot of critical Fischer posts from Swiss posters almost every championship "lately".

This is the 7th year in a row we qualified for QF. Do you know when was the last time that happened in our history? Exactly, never. Combined with a silver medal, Fischer is the most succesfull coach we've ever had.

Simpson won a silver too, but missed out on QF 3 times in 4 years. Impossible to think that this naturally talented nation would not be in the top 8 regularly, right?

Yes, expecting semis means by definition top 4, not so hard to evaluate. Couldn't care less if it's against GER or US or whoever.

E: yeah, wrong thread for this, let's leave it that way. Hope we will trash Germany and the negative moaners will be silent again.

Right now it has Canada at 88.9 and Slovakia and 9.8.

THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS.

US could build "chemistry" from those easier games, not having to scramble to play catch up.

USA could take that match, but I don't see it. Best game on paper, though

And I think Germany has been underrated all tournament. They also got the best possible opponent for themselves.

A lot of teams brought more talent to these Worlds than we've seen in years. Finland didn't get that message. It should hurt them against Sweden.

Canada should be fully coalesced by now. It's been nice seeing Slovakia look like a legit Top 8 international team again, but there's only so much you can expect.
