We are always convinced it's at least 3 more prospects beyond our position because we read scouting reports for prospects ranked a few spots after ours and every scouting report makes it look like Mark Messier had a child with Brian Leetch. You could literally plug in guys who have an outside shot of getting drafted in the 7th round as possible top-5 pick, and it will still look like they are superstars (after all, they are better than everyone in their HS and better than 80%+ of the guys in the Juniors or college, so they must have some skillz to pimp). But nobody reads too far after their own pick so the future superstars end 3-5 picks after your own.
