World Cup: Predict possible 2026 WC national teams rosters/lineups

Argentina, Spain, France, England, Brazil, Netherlands, Portugal and Italy

Need you to justify having the Netherlands or Italy over us...and in a couple of months, portugal ;-)

I get someone putting us behind the first 4 or 5...you're wrong, we can beat even the first 3 when our key pieces are fit & the refs don't cheat us, though I at least get the logic...but why are we behind teams we regularly beat & outplay?

Portugal may be deeper with top talent on paper, but they don't have Wirtziala, and the last time I remember them beating us (Euro 2000) was before Lahm's career had even started...

And you don't have Vitinha/Neves.
Portugal's talent torches Germany's. But they're terribly coached.

With their injury frequency I'm not sure you will have them either

I put both Italy and Netherlands before Germany at the moment because I think both torch you in defense and net.

I pick Germany before Italy, no question. Before Brazil too.
I see France, Spain, England, Argentina and Portugal as having better rosters. Debatable for Argentina.
But rosters are one thing, playing together is another.

Debatable lol there’s like 3 players that walk into that line up.

We do have Pavlovic though, and Stiller's not exactly miles off...but like I said, I get it on paper. But that coaching difference is far greater than any difference in the quality of depth. As I suspect we'll see when they get bounced by us...yet again...

Hasn't been a problem for the NT yet :dunno:

Pretty sure it was their defense & keepers getting torched, more than the other way around. Rüdiger, Tah, and Schlotterbeck aren't Hummels-Boateng, but our CBs aren't a problem...and Baumann is an excellent stand-in until MAtS is 100% again. Italy & the Netherlands' attacking options are a problem...and not in the good way.

And many German players walk into the Argentina lineup.
Are these players in the room with you?

I’d love to see a list. Wirtz, musiala and lahm. Are the only ones I can see having their names. The rest I just don’t see it.

No keeper, CB, LB, or striker.

Baumann is so under-rated just because he's never left TSG. He's not ter Stegen when MAtS is at his best, but he's not far off.

Neither would displace Emi.

Ah. Thought you were saying we had no keeper, CB, LB, or striker, not that none of ours would start over yours.

That conversation is as much about continuity & chemistry as quality, because on simple quality, Otamendi & Tagliafico both get replaced by a german, without a doubt...and the inverse is also true, only 3-4 argentinians would start for germany.

Well that's already 3 and with a particularly large gap, all 3 of them.
Then frankly I might hate him but I take Rudiger over Romero every day and twice on Sunday.

Otamendi isnt the starter anymore. Unless Martinez or Cuti are injured. Even then it’s pretty clear he shouldn’t even be 3rd choice cb but scaloni loyalty. Not sure who you have at LB the avs scrub? Without a doubt is an extreme stretch. Neither are world class players. Soler will be the starter in a few months anyway.

This works both ways. Rüdiger, Tah, Schlotterbeck are just as good or better than Martinez, Romero, Otamendi/Balerdi. So chemistry would keep the german CBs the same if one of your CBs suddenly joined us.

Mittelstadt and Raum may not be world class players, but they are both excellent LBs...and Schlotterbeck is a strong defensive option there as well.
