I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin' ...

Darnell Nurse's last 8 games

2G, 5A, 7 points, +7

Getting moved to the right side might be the best thing that ever happened to him, lol.

He has certainly been playing better. I think Kulak's crazy improved play is just as important to Nurse's recent turnaround.

Funny how the issue comes right back when he has a bad game.

Nurses own goal rate increases by 1.

But with his play this year and this not yet being the playoffs, that’s fine.

2 games in a row now where Nurse own goals. What’s the point of this thread if no one is going to use it?

In LA, he tips a puck headed directly towards Skinners pad, past it.

In Anaheim on 2GA, Nurse takes a swipe at a floater incoming from the blue line. No f***in reason at all to take a swipe at that puck. Ticks it just perfectly passed above Pickards blocker.

No Nurse brain farts in either of these games and we probably win them. For those that don’t think these dumbass, totally preventable plays matter. They matter for the Ws/Ls column and they matter for goalie stats.

Watching Nurses body language he seems to get into this lacksaidaisacal mode when his game starts falling apart. When he’s on his game he’s on his toes, making quick and decisive decisions on the ice, his movements are strong and concise. When he sucks, his movements look loosy-goosy, playing non-chalantly, like he’s too cool for school, and taking the game for granted. That’s when the brain farts show up. The good news is, it’s probably just mind set thing, so he can fix this. But he better fix it fast, cause the last 2 games were amongst Nurses worse, not even counting the egregious own goals which always show up when he starts sucking again.

Yup. Sorry you can’t just deny reality. It happened. Let’s hope he doesn’t do it for the 3rd game in a row.
They didn't show it enough to be 100% sure but the one angle showed it pretty clearly last game.

I didnt watch the LA game but last game it certainly seems to be a Nurse own goal. Of the variety that absolutely makes you wonder what Nurse does differently to get so many own goals yet again. It certainly looks intentional in comparison to every other defender in the league that somehow mange to not score on themselves.

Overall Nurse is playing more good than bad this year so I hope he can get put of this mini funk quickly.

They did though. Like 1000% conclusive with the overhead angle. The overhead angle was shown about 5 minutes after the goal was scored. Doesn’t show up in the highlight packs, but if you have that game PVR’d it’s shown on the SN broadcast.

The Ducks game deflection I would say is more concerning though. There’s jus no reason to take a swipe at that puck.

But yes, Nurse has been great this year. Until these last 2 games filled with own-goals and turnovers. Something to monitor, but not the end of the world.
