I like Zaitsev enough, but Z for Pysyk saves money. And I love Brown, but he's going to be a victim of $ next year either way. Let Malgin and Matthews play together again.

McGinn (3.33) + Pysyk (2.7) + Wideman (1m in AHL) (6.03 cap)
Leafs can retain on Brown as well to help facilitate, probably down to 1.9ish.


McGinn gets replaced by a younger, cheaper better Brown who has another year of control.
Leafs get a guy just coming off injury who has had 2 disappointing seasons in a row but is a UFA. Maybe he can play 4C as a backup?

Dont think Flordias owner is a penny pincher, but could save some cash this year.

I'm sorry but i think you are way off. 2019 1st that might be early 20's, an A prospect RHD and a pretty good 3rd line winger. Except if Anaheim want a hockey deal 1 vs 1, i don't see many teams giving more than that, except if they want to madly overpay.

Tolvanen will get traded as part of a package for Stone, Panarin, or Duchene. Poile wants to win now, and getting one of those guys gives him the best shot. It would make a perfect capper to a stellar career for himself and Peks.

My bet is that he moves Tolvanen. Fabbro is more important due to the upcoming expansion draft - he can leave one of the top 4 D unprotected. Something along the lines of Tolvanen, Fiala, and conditional pick(s) based on whether he re-signs the acquired player should get it done, no?

This makes no sense for the Panthers. Zaitsev is not better than Pysyk, but he's more expensive. Brown is an expensive 3rd liner they don't need. So if you are trying to dump Zaitsev's awful contract, you'll need to send something better than a prospect that can't even stick in the KHL.
